    Dedication

To the people who caused me mental and emotional damage. Had I not gone through those times, I wouldn’t have this book today.

I dedicate this book to the Freeman family.

    Author's Note

I can honestly say that my youth went to drugs and the streets. Now that I’m older and wiser, my heart’s desire is for the listeners and readers to know that everything happens for a reason. Whatever hardship, struggles, or obstacles you’re facing, know this: go through your wilderness and into the promised land.

    How It All Started

I want to tell you a story of a life filled with drugs, lies, and abuse. I know you’re thinking right off the bat, what a horrible thing for a person to go through. But I also want to tell you a story filled with triumph, strength, and acceptance. I know those are many different concepts on separate ends of the spectrum, but my life has been filled with all that and more. My life has been a journey with many different twists and turns, but I’m finally at a place where I am ready to share my story.

I know I am not the only one who has had a difficult journey, but I do pray that I can give you hope. I pray that my story will be an eye-opening experience and that the main takeaway of this book is to tell you that you can overcome anything in life, even when it hurts.

I didn’t have the regular childhood that most children had.

Growing up, my mom would tell people, Bridgette was marked after a snake.

I didn’t live with my mother and stepfather for my whole childhood, only for a while. Throughout that time, I always knew something was off about the relationship between my stepfather and me. He wasn’t the loving father who was doting on his daughter, but very strict and said no to most everything I wanted to do.

I didn’t ride the school bus like everyone else; I went to school in a cab. I never knew why. I just knew when the school bus came, I wasn’t able to ride it. I asked my mom one day if I could start riding the bus. I don’t know why she couldn’t answer me, but she ended up asking my stepdad, Bob. In the back of my mind, I knew what the answer would be, but I was hopeful that
