Brienne

My bedroom door slammed against the wall of my bedroom. Startled, I turned around.

The blood drained from my face when I realized who stood a few feet from me.

The crazed look he sported had me taking a step back. My hands shook with the anger radiating off him. Gray Montgomery took a menacing step in my direction.

My pulse raced but not in the excited way it used to whenever I saw him.

His lips curled in a snarl. What did you tell Hannah about me? he demanded. I kept retreating. And don’t you dare lie to me.

My desk stopped my escape. I don’t know what you’re talking about. I cringed at the tremble in my voice.

Another menacing step closer to me. My hands began to sweat as he advanced on me. He pulled at his dark hair. You’re so desperate for me that you’re now spreading rumors about me?

I glared at him. No, that’s your specialty.

He smiled viciously. It’s not my fault that rumor wasn’t a rumor at all. Your mommy abandoned you, admit it.

More hatred replaced the devotion I once felt for him, not completely, but enough for me to function without him. Once upon a time, Gray was my entire world. I incomprehensibly loved him. That love, no one understood, not even me.
