About this ebook

Jason. A man breaking into his own apartment. Easy enough. He knows the weak points.

The catch -- Jason must leave no evidence. He must move unseen. Unheard. For if anyone observes him, the paradox could collapse our slice of reality.

Jason -- first man to travel through time. The man who must return with evidence of his trip.

If he manages this, science leaps forward. And he may just undo the worst mistake of his life…

"The Night of Absinthe and Regret" -- a tense science fiction short story for anyone who has ever wanted to undo a painful mistake. From Stefon Mears, author of the Spells for Hire series.

Never thought I’d be breaking into my own apartment, but I couldn’t carry any metal with me. So no keys.

Not a problem, though. I knew which window in the back bedroom didn’t quite close all the way. Caused a lot of problems keeping the bedroom warm in the winter, the way the cold air would just seep through it. Right now, though, I was grateful.

The apartment building was a converted Victorian house. Four of us had our own rooms there, and we shared a communal kitchen. I was lucky enough to have gotten the master suite, so I had my own sitting room, bathroom, walk-in closet, and enough space for my own refrigerator.

Pretty sweet setup, for the price. Even if the landlord never upgraded anything he didn’t have to.

Cheap bastard never spent a dime more
