I jiggled the doorknob. Darn! Locked.

I sat down to wait. A few minutes later a woman around my age arrived and saw me. Her brow furrowed and a moment later recognition dawned on her and she smiled at me.

Kala? she asked. What are you doing outside?

I got locked out.

Well, lucky for you I’m here. She fished a key out of her pocket and unlocked the door. I have a spare, she handed me the key.
