About this ebook

This book is an effort to present contemporary learning and teaching methods in four key structures. The first key is to form a story base and connect with students through a story by learning both story weaving and presentation skills. The second key is to create new content (stories) and use them in teaching and learning methods. The third key is learning psychology which provides a step-by-step guide to remove the fear of any subject by using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) or reprogramming one's mind to learn the most hated subject and by doing this, a growth mindset is created. The fourth key is to accelerate learning by involving students through a self-learning process where teachers have to act as mediators and let the students learn and act.

This book is written for teaching faculties, students, and parents and provides tools and techniques to help them to match with the pace of learning and teaching methods of the present generation.

    Learning 2.0 - Manoj Sonawane

    Introduction

Advent of technology has changed the way students perceive the lesson; they will not be interested in your teaching if you just deliver the lesson. They like teachers who not only teach them but also show them how to learn and perceive lessons, how to present, how to manage, how to leverage course materials and more.

Classes are still conducted uniformly, which should cut down to tailor-made information or courses as per the need of every student to create the knowledge worker, a society needs. It needs a mini setup that provides actual learning experiences, collects feedback, and raises drawbacks, but we lack all these in our present educational setup.

Time is running out fast. Old teaching methods are unable to cope with the new changes. On top of that, artificial intelligence is making its way to compete with human teachers. Communication in teaching is still one-to-many (one-way learning), something that has failed to create the knowledge worker. Our existing education system is a copy of industrial setups like dress code, hair or nail cut, assembly, etc. (factory worker setup) and it still counts the marks in number (just like large production figure of the industrial era) rather than a skill.

The rules have changed now. We are at the dawn of the knowledge zenith era where core expertise will sell. In this era, your ideas will earn money for you, and you’ll not like the idea of your parents who have been working for someone else and spending their lifetime to earn a fortune. A worker from the knowledge zenith era will develop core expertise or work on the ideas which will help them to earn a lifetime fortune within a few weeks or months. They will prefer learning methods that match or fit them in this era. Thus, teachers should look for innovative ways of learning for this generation and bring it to the classroom.

This book is an effort to present contemporary learning and teaching methods in four key structures. The first key is to form a story base and connect with students through a story by learning both: story weaving and presentation skills. The second key is to create new content (stories) and use them in teaching and learning methods. The third key is learning psychology which provides a step-by-step guide to remove the fear of any subject by using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) or reprogram one’s mind to learn the hated subject and also build a growth mindset. The fourth key is to accelerate learning by involving students through the self-learning process where teachers have to act as mediators and let the students learn and act.

This book is written for teaching faculties, students, and parents and provides tools and techniques to help them to match with the pace of learning & teaching methods of the present generation.

Learning creates content, which in turn helps to develop knowledge. Let’s explore learning 2.0 in a detail.

    Connect Through Story

    *********

After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.

                        - Philip Pullman

If we allow two enemy kings to sit together and share their life stories, it is likely to end all wars between them. Stories create empathy and connect people with each other. Teachers expect students to listen to them in class, but don’t know how to do this. It’s a story that connects teacher with students.

Stories can be powerful tools. Students like teachers who share stories with them. Before you embark upon the main content of the topic, you should share a story with students as we are born to interact and express our thoughts, emotions, and ideas
