    Introduction

Dear readers, it is an endevour to spread social, political, historical knowledge through these poems.

On the basis of West Bengal Civil Service Examination I was allotted to Labour Deptt, Govt. of West Bengal. After retirement I started practising at High Court at Calcutta as advocate.

During my administrative service and subsequently in legal field I came across people who sought for dispensation of justice as well as relief within norm. This helped open my mind and understand their mind too.

In the poems, I have tried to realise mind of nature with mind of human beings. Nature’s fury or an event has been depicted as living beings with love and hate and presented in a metaphorical way.

I have touched upon the emotional pain in the humankind, be it global or national. The global and national calamities would pain me and I eventually embark on the journey of writing.

    Aila

The mighty cyclone, christened as Aila lashed the Sunderbarns in West Bengal on 25-05-2009 causing unprecedented damage to properties and loss of lives. In recent memories such terrific cyclone occurred twice before.

In the poem, Aila is personified as a woman playing in the clouds showing love and emotion, suddenly enlarged her bodies forming whirlwind with a clarion call. With her companions, storm, lightning and cloud waged a severe war against plants and living beings and rendered homeless in the Sunderbans.

After destruction, Aila became quiet and turned into a beautiful woman. Then she returned to heaven. In spite of unbearable miseries, people in the Sunderbans struggled to stay alive in this war against nature.

They accept Aila as a symbol of beauty and wish that she plays in the heaven with light and sound and never comes down on earth. People will enjoy her beauty from here.

I sent the poem to Her Majesty and acknowledgement received sympathizing with the victims of the cyclone.

    The letter is displayed.

    Aila

    Aila was playing

    In the clouds,

    In love and emotion,

    Lightning flashed in the woods.

A great call came to her

To perform the wishes of Master.

    Dazzling and sizzling,

Come down to earth to wander.

    Body enlarged, nose swollen,

    Ears over grown,

    Eyes turned thousands,

    Flying air borne.

    Moving faster and faster,
