Memories in Technicolor

About this ebook
Poetry is the most expressive of the various forms of the written language. It allows one to describe events, experiences, people and emotions in an imaginative manner. The poems in this anthology illustrate the writer’s belief that the natural world and the emotions of the individual are interconnected. That the rhythm and imagination within the mind of the individual is inherent within the forces, the beauty of the physical world. The author believes that poetry, expressed in simplistic words can lift the heart, cause old romances to live again and transpose oneself into the natural world as a participant, not just an observer.
Jerry Edwards
The surrealist poet, Jerry Edwards, lives in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. His home is literally in the shadows of the Catalina Mountains. He describes himself as a 12-year-old boy, disguised as an 82-year-old grandfather. He’s also said that he’d once been a 12-year-old boy, disguised as a business executive. This anthology of poetry, Venus – A Point of Expression, is his second publication of poetry in as many years. His first book, Memories in Technicolor, was released in June 2023. A reader, critiquing his writing, commented that he was obviously, “a hopeless romantic”. Edwards pleads guilty to the description!

Dedication
Thanks to the late, great, and unequaled poet Dylan Thomas, who has forever been my inspiration. There has never been or will ever be any verse remotely close to Fern Hill.
So, wherever you are, Dylan, I know that you’re writing feverishly, drinking like a fish, and smoking like a chimney … God bless.

Acknowledgment
No one except my immediate family has read my poetry, I want to thank them for their lack of negative criticism, although I’m sure it was certainly warrantied.
Thanks to my ninth grade English teacher, Mrs. Johnson, who praised my imagination and writing skills and was very lenient about my grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. And thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for introducing me to Charles Dickens … his writing has given me great joy for many years.
My sincere thanks are due to the two lady librarians at the Hattiesburg, MS, Public Library, who set aside new books for me to read before they went on the shelves. You helped me become the literary junkie that I am. I wish that I could remember your names … no one has ever been kinder or more encouraging to me.
Rosita from Across the Tracks
I dreamed you again last night, Rosita
the wind was moving the scented black-black hair
across your face, the way I always remember it
your dark eyes were reflecting
the pale, golden light of the moon back to me
I opened your shirt, touching the gold cross
lying between your breasts
the sweet scent of milk remained
from you nursing your baby earlier
Te amo, Te amo you whispered across my mouth
as
