About this ebook

My writings come from recognition of the emotional essence of things.

It has been said that the true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.

However, to put it another way: the experiencing of the visibleor the music / the poem / the dance / the paintingthat is the true mystery.

The artist cannot prescribe the full meaning a reader or viewer is to get from the work but can offer only small evidence of his/her own experience with the world. To me, it is magical that images both invite and resist interpretation.

I am working toward accepting the transience of naturelife itselfand of allowing the astonishing complexity of it to feel simple and wonderful.

    This book is

    for my mother and father.

Their deep love for each other and their children

offered me a childhood both safe and peaceful.

I find myself wishing the same for all children.
