Acknowledgments
I’d like to thank Austin Macauley Publishers for publishing this book of poetry. In addition, I thank the butterfly. From caterpillar to free winged spirit its metamorphosis taught me that change is beautiful. That’s why I write.
Foreword
Sunday,
it’s hours move too fast.
A garden harvested before the heat.
Coffee, black.
The day's news tiresome.
Some music and reading.
The laborious week ahead in view
time moving forward.
Napping, unrealistic... it steals from the day.
I've taken to writing, where the minutes last longer. A timeless world.
Every stroke of the pen a painters canvass, every word toiled over to complete the picture.
At final punctuation, a smile on my face. Time briefly forgotten.
Morning's harvest is prepared for dinner.
My companion by my side, his eye's focused, tail wagging in anticipation.
We share a meal.
How fortunate for him to not be chained to time
Of Life
Figment
Presume me alive if my thoughts linger aimlessly between reality and imagination. It is the dead that think in black and white. Artless, will be the death of us all. Figment with no boundary, full of color, distorted illusions and unattainable glory feeds the desires of life. It is this, not the drums of war, not the quest for possession, and not the quest of power that drives existence.
Traveled
I have traveled less but have breathed the air and soil of foreign lands, conquered the highest peaks, battled rugged terrain, gazed at breathtaking architecture, breathed the bouquet of indigenous flowers, sung the songs of locals, tasted the fruit and bread, held the hands of lost souls and lonely children, visited the newborn, paid final respects, seen the effects of war… just as real as you, through well-written chapters.
Sing
Sing to the wind and rain and in return your song will be carried through orchard, through mountain and uncharted waters. Its lyrics spread among the hillside’s flowers; it is melody to the yearning ears
