the Southside

of

doubt

The Subjective History Of The Southside Of Doubt:

they were the first

to build with broken bones;

they constructed a railway,

decorated most homes.

garnished local fascists

in yellowed bone houses, ruin

ruled over from a palace

of ashes.

a fortress secured

with spines and spleens.

ever-crumbling floors

from the roar beneath

calling;

to dawn in the smallest of cracks,

to demons in dress up

now heroes in black, those keen

to leave: the Southside of Doubt.

the city made from broken bones

knowing all they know.

Move along:

stagnant, still

and stung

far too

comfortable

with the smell of

sweet roses.

Frogs For Cuisine:

deliver me from the river,

before you let it boil.
