Unveiled Visions - Muna Al Shaibani

    A LAMENTING PAUSE

    Vexation of Thoughts

Evils thoughts slip into your room without a sound..

Savage birds devouring the rotten flesh,

Fog covers glass windows like a misty forest.

Bloodshed, mixed with the children’s tears,

    Predicting endless years of wars.

    Rejected passion of sanctions

    By heartless saints,

Sang the songs of endless wars.

    They marched through the land,

on their filthy feet of envy.

Destroying the beauty of the universe.

The beating of drums, red hearts, and filthy

    Slums.

Declared an era of steel and bitter defeat.

Corpses stood as statues, at the Sun Gate.

    Burned dolls asked for healing?

The healers went to meditate in their solitary retreat.

The heart was the hunter, the tears were pearls of a

    Lost summer rain.

Ghosts carried dead souls from ancient

Ruins to future cities of space,

    Ignoring the human race,

    Building their empire on fragile,

    Lands.

    Yet tears roll after nightmares.

Yet rain falls after sunny days.

    AT DUSK

When birds have flown to their nests,

When the heart is tired and needs a rest,

At dusk the sky colors the rainbow of mist.

When doves flutter their wings abreast,

When sands drift to shores of bliss,

At dusk I climb my wall to heaven.

When clouds gather in the sky like tears of despair,

When mountains disintegrate into flowing rivers.

At dusk the mist wipes away the tears of guilt,

    and musky breasts.

When morning’s fog slips into a dream,

When children cry the silent cries of lost schemes,

At dusk I rest my heart on a bird’s wing.

I slip into a dream and vanish with the night’s stars.

    FOOLISH WISHES

I wish I were a bird, Mon amour,

So that I could fly to you somehow,

    Somewhere.

I wish I were a shadow, Mon amour,

So that I could follow you anywhere,

    anytime.

I wish I were a piece of silk, Mon amour,

So that I could brush against your skin,

    in anyway, on any day.

I wish I were the sun, Mon amour,

So that I could shine on you every day

    of your life.

I wish I were the air, Mon amour,

    So that you could inhale me;

Then I would refuse to be exhaled!

    HOMES UNDER THE DEBRIS

    Who are they?

Can they hear the wounded children and wailing mothers lamenting their soldier sons?

I know who they are; I know the beasts

And stricken swine with hunger for power

They emerge into the land like a disease,

    Infecting pure souls.

    on Earth, our home.

Why do we destroy the homes, the land of

    Fathers, and Sons?

Why do we go on living among the debris?

Among the dusty rubble left after

    Wars?

Let’s join hand-in-hand to build our

    Home forever land.

    Nobody will take my advice;

No one will hear my screams to end

    This STAINED,

                          BLOODY

                                      TIME.

    IGNORANCE

I know not of the days that have gone by,

Nor will I ever sense the secrets of the heart.

I know not of this, nor inside the shantytowns,

    Where, millions of innocents die

Tell me not of the reasons that I have known,

Nor, the emotions, I have ignored.

Speak the truth or be silent on faults so huge.

I know not of him, nor of her, for they are

Statues burning in their, own shadows.

Tell me not of love, nor hate, for my heart

    A thousand passions will accommodate.

I know not why my mother conceived me?

Nor where my grave will lies.

    "We follow an endless shadow in a web of deceit;

not knowing that in an instant we will sense our defeat."

I know not of lies, nor truth; they are

    merely a human traits.

Tell me not of faithfulness, nor betray; these are

    games to play.

    Tell me
