    Deadly Game - Alvaro Figares

    Chapter 1:

    The Mysterious Patient

Owen James, a forensic psychologist with an impressive track record, sat in his office, engrossed in a session with one of his patients. He leaned forward, listening intently as they poured their heart out, his mind racing with thoughts and analysis.

As the session came to an end, Owen couldn't help but notice someone waiting by his office door. It was a new patient, Elizabeth Reynolds, a woman in her mid-thirties with an air of mystery surrounding her.

Owen's curiosity was instantly piqued. He was always attracted to cases that pushed the boundaries of his understanding. And Elizabeth seemed like the perfect puzzle to solve.

With a polite smile, Owen motioned for Elizabeth to come in. As she entered, he couldn't help but notice the way she carried herself, her eyes scanning the room as if expecting something.

Good afternoon, Mr. James, Elizabeth said, her voice filled with a hint of command. Thank you for seeing me on such short notice.

Owen nodded, gesturing for Elizabeth to take a seat. Of course, Ms. Reynolds. What brings you to my office today?

Elizabeth settled herself in the chair, her gaze fixed on Owen. I have information about a series of unsolved murders, Mr. James. Information that could put an end to the suffering of the victims' families.

Owen's interest was immediately piqued. Unsolved murders were always a fascination of his, the mystery of them calling to his analytical mind.

That sounds intriguing, Owen replied, leaning back in his chair. Tell me more, Ms. Reynolds. What do you know?

Elizabeth leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. I've been plagued by these visions, Mr. James. Visions of the killer, of the crime scenes. It's as if I'm connected to them somehow.

Owen's brows furrowed with curiosity. Visions, you say? That's certainly interesting. How did this connection come about?

Elizabeth's eyes darted around the room before she leaned in even closer, her words a mere breath. I was there, Mr. James. I witnessed the first murder. And ever since then, I've been haunted by these visions, these whispers in my mind.

Owen's mind raced as he considered the possibilities. If Elizabeth had truly witnessed the first murder, she could hold the key to unlocking the entire case. But he couldn't help but wonder if it was all just an elaborate ruse.

Clearing his throat, Owen asked, Do you have any evidence to prove your connection to these murders, Ms. Reynolds? Anything that can substantiate your claims?

Elizabeth's gaze turned piercing, her eyes locked with Owen's, determination shining through. I know things, Mr. James. Things only the killer could know. I have seen what others haven't, and it's time to bring justice to these innocent souls.

Owen couldn't deny the intensity in Elizabeth's words. There was a fire burning within her, an unwavering determination that sent shivers down his spine.

Rising from his chair, Owen walked over to a whiteboard, his mind racing with the possibilities. If what you're saying is true, Ms. Reynolds, we may be on the verge of solving one of the most gruesome murder cases this city has ever seen.

With a determined voice, Elizabeth replied, I'm willing to do whatever it takes, Mr. James. Whatever it takes to make sure the killer is brought to justice and the victims can finally rest in peace.

Owen turned to face her, their eyes locking in a moment of shared understanding. Then let's get to work, Ms. Reynolds. Together, we will unravel the truth behind these unsolved murders and bring an end to this nightmare.

As they exchanged nods of determination, a sense of purpose filled the room. Owen couldn't help but feel a thrill as he realized that this case would be like no other he had encountered before.

Little did he know, this mysterious patient would not only test his skills as a forensic psychologist but also push the boundaries of his sanity.

With a determined smile, Owen motioned for Elizabeth to come closer. We have a lot of ground to cover, Ms. Reynolds. Let's start by delving into your past, your connection to the killer. We'll leave no stone unturned.

Elizabeth nodded, a flicker of excitement crossing her eyes. I'm ready, Mr. James. Ready to unveil the truth and put an end to the reign of terror that has haunted this city for far too long.

And so, the journey began. Owen and Elizabeth delved into the depths of her memories, searching for the pieces of the puzzle that would bring closure to the victims' families.

    Chapter 2:

    Unsettling Clues

Owen sat across from Elizabeth in his office, his gaze fixed on her as he carefully observed her every movement. Her presence in the room was unnerving, and he couldn't help but feel a twinge of apprehension. He adjusted his glasses, trying to steady himself.

So, Elizabeth, Owen began, leaning forward slightly. Tell me more about yourself. How did you come to find out about these unsolved murders?

Elizabeth shifted in her chair, a slight smile playing on her lips. I started having these...visions, she said, her voice soft and slightly hesitant. They were dreams at first, but they felt so real. I could see the faces of the victims, the places where they were killed.

Owen raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. And these visions, do they happen randomly? Or do they occur when you're in a certain state of mind?

Elizabeth chewed on her bottom lip, a telltale sign of nervousness. It's hard to say, she replied. Sometimes they come to me when I'm relaxed, other times they're like flashes during the day. But they all feel so vivid, as if I'm really there.

Owen scribbled a note on his pad, his mind racing with endless possibilities. Tell me about the first murder, he urged, his voice barely above a whisper.

Elizabeth's eyes glazed over, a distant look taking hold. I was walking home late at night, she began, her voice filled with a mix of fear and fascination. It was dark, and I could feel this presence behind me. I turned, and there it was. The first victim, lying in a pool of blood.

Owen leaned back in his chair, his mind racing with thoughts. And what did you do? he asked, trying to piece together the puzzle.

Elizabeth shrugged, her gaze distant. I ran, she admitted. I was terrified, and all I could think about was getting away. But the image...it stayed with me. Haunted me, even. That's when I realized I had to do something.

Owen furrowed his brow, deep in thought. It's fascinating, he murmured. Your connection to these murders...it's like you have a sixth sense.

Elizabeth chuckled softly, though there was a touch of sadness in her eyes. Sometimes I wish I didn't have this ability, she confessed. It's like a constant weight on my shoulders, a reminder of the darkness in the world.

Owen leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Elizabeth. But it's because of this ability that we might be able to solve these murders, he said, his voice filled with determination.

Elizabeth swallowed hard, her hands trembling slightly.
