FOREWORD
This book is for casual reading by children between the ages of 5 to 15. Even though the stories are fiction, there are hidden messages in them. There are six short stories with illustrations.
The story of An Old Lady and a Cat
talks about a lonely old lady whose life found meaning and objective when she adopted an orphan cat.
The story of a Peruvian princess
is about the ancient blind belief that pleasing the Gods with sacrifices would stop earthquakes.
The story of An Orphan Girl
is about taking care of a young girl who was made an orphan by a rebel gang.
The story of Manu and a Mermaid
is about a mermaid helping Manu to bring awareness of pollution of the land, waters, and climate changes.
The story of Jacob and David
is about the dangers of drug addiction.
The story We Are Different but Similar and Equal
is to show the diversity of America and the recognition that we are all equal and similar despite the difference in physical features.

There was a young cat, who was lonely and unwanted. It did not know who the parents were. It was left in the garbage dump when it was born. No one fed it, no one cuddled it, no one cared for it. It didn’t even have a name. It grew up eating junk food. It would go searching for food in the garbage dumps, sidewalks, parks, and backyards of buildings. Wherever it went, often people chased it out. Dogs tried to kill it.
When it peeked through some gates, it could see some well-fed cats inside those homes. It felt jealous and wished someone would adopt it someday.
It was always wandering around the streets. It would go to the city park every day hoping to find someone who would feed it. Most days it was disappointed and dejected.

In the middle of the city, there was a mansion that was built many years ago. At that time the city was small and walkable. Now the city has become big and industrial. But the mansion and the city park remained the same, and
