Pet: Dawa, 10 years old, mixed Netherlands dwarf rabbit

When Tania Jim and her mother were looking to adopt their first pet bunny, they always thought they would bring home a younger, more active rabbit. The then-seven-year-old Dawa was the older bunny they didn’t see coming. “His previous name was Gandalf, and my mum immediately liked him when she saw his photo over WhatsApp,” says Tania, who got to know Dawa’s former owner through a friend. Both mother and daughter brought their newly-adopted pet to a monk in the temple they go to, and he named the furball Dawa (which translates to ‘moon’ in Tibetan), a name inspired by the urban legend of the rabbit on the moon.
