About this ebook

The summer solstice is a time for wizards to make acquaintances, engage in friendly banter with their peers, measure their skills, perhaps make an occasional wager. Naya isn’t happy when her husband Reyal comes home with a red-headed sorceress he won on a bet--especially when she finds out that she’s the one who’d have had to pay the price if Reyal had lost.

On the other hand, Bec is cute and fun and if Naya’s very good Reyal says he’ll let Naya play with her. But if Naya’s very bad Bec will get to work her own devious brand of magic on Naya--and Naya is nearly always bad . . .

    Solstice Spells

Reyal came home two hours before he said he would, and he had someone with him. Naya looked up from her book as they came in. He was looking smug, which meant that… well, it meant that it was either day or night or somewhere in between. And that he'd done something that he thought was clever.

Naya, this is Bec. Bec, Naya.

Bec was shorter than Naya, and skinnier, with a tumbled mass of red hair, and she looked nervous. Bec, Reyal went on, you can crawl over to Naya and kiss her feet; you'll do what she tells you to do.

Which was nice, but. Naya had kinda been looking forward to a free evening where she could read her book. What have you done this time, Reyal?

There are any number of sorcerers and magicians and warlocks in for the solstice, he said. It's important for journeymen such as myself to make acquaintances, engage in friendly banter with our peers, measure our skills, perhaps make an occasional wager.

By this time, the red-headed girl had made her way to where Naya was sitting, and kissed her feet, first one, then the other, then looked up at her. Still super, super nervous. Which was kinda cute.

    So Bec's a sorceress?

She's clearly not a very good one, said Reyal. But sure. He swaggered off towards the kitchen.

And if you'd lost? she shouted after him.

Well, he said. I bet a girl for a girl, and I'd pay my debt, according to the dictates of honor, and the somewhat excessive magical consequences of failure. I'm sure you'd have had a good time.

Dammit, Reyal, said Naya. I didn't—

You'd've been fine. It's only for a day. Bec, stand up. Naya, take her clothes off.

Bec stood, slowly. Naya scowled at Reyal, who lifted the drink he'd gotten from the kitchen to her and swirled it. Go on. You don't want to set a bad example for our guest.

I don't want to set a bad example for your mom, Naya muttered, and turned the page. She really wanted to know if the viscount was going to win his duel.

Do you want me to get the heavy strap?

The viscount was probably going to be fine. He still had like five more books in the series to swashbuckle his way through. I'll be good, said Naya, putting down the book and starting to undo Bec's shirt. Bec's eyes darted from Naya to Reyal, and she pulled back a little. It was fun to watch her squirm, but her buttons were fiddly and Naya wasn't going to be able to undo them if Bec didn't calm down.

Honestly, said Naya, if you don't want to do this, he'll let you go.

Reyal drew his breath in, and then released it. I suppose that's true, he said. But it'd—

No, said Bec. Bet's a bet. She had a lower voice than Naya had expected, sort of hoarse. Reyal did have great taste in women. But is he… is he nice?

    Reyal raised an eyebrow.

Nope, said Naya cheerfully. She was going to get in trouble whatever she said, anyway. And if her answer was true, but not complete—well, it didn't bother Naya exactly, but Bec might leave, and that might be too bad. He's fun, though. And… well, he might not be nice, but he's decent.

And would a decent person be going to get the heavy strap? Reyal asked.

    No! said Naya.

He tipped his glass up, drank it down, went to the bedroom. Okay, Naya confided, close to Bec's ear, I have mixed feelings about the heavy strap.

Bec still looked nervous, but there was a twitch at the corner of her mouth, a light in her eyes. And if she'd won the bet with Reyal… liked the idea of Naya and the heavy strap, did she? Well, too bad. She'd lost, and Reyal said she'd have to do what Naya told her, and it was probably time to remind her of that.

Less smirking, said Naya. More letting me undress you.

Bec shrugged, and stepped up when Naya told her, undid the catches on her underwear while Naya worked on her shoes. By the time Reyal came back, holding the heavy strap and a small bag of other items, Bec was entirely undressed. And looking really pretty. A little scrawny, but pretty, with a fine dusting of freckles on her shoulders and arms, a trim little thatch of red hair over her pussy, and her arms crossed over her breasts.

Hands on your head, said Reyal. And pull your hair up, off your neck.

There was the faintest hesitation before she complied. Two steps back, and again, a pause, and then two steps back.

Reyal circled her; Bec looked down, her toes shifting on the wooden floor.

Very nice, he said. You're going to have to shave her, Naya, but very nice.

    Naya pouted. "But it
