    It's a cold spring day, and I was waiting for the bus when I heard my phone ringing inside my bag. Dr. Evans' name flashed on my phone screen, so I quickly picked it up and answered his call.

    Hello, Dr. Evans. I am going to visit your place of work today. I apologize for the delay, but I pledge to settle my mother's bill as soon as possible, I told the doctor who was treating her at South Hill Hospital.

    MY MOTHER WAS HOSPITALIZED a few months ago following my father's death. Her immune system weakened as she wept and grieved the loss of my father. I sold our house and farm to pay for my mother's hospital expenses.

    I'm staying at a friend's house and have found a full-time job as a bookkeeper at a publishing company, as well as part-time work as a waitress at a coffee shop near my office. I try to meet ends, but it's still not enough, even for my mother's hospitalization.
