The summer breeze makes the midday wind feel especially warm. It's my final semester of the university, and I'm really looking forward to my internship and final thesis. These were the thoughts that crossed my head as I heard my phone beep inside my backpack. I quickly grabbed it up and saw my mother's name flash over the screen.

Christy, your father had an accident. We're sending him to the hospital, I heard my mother shout in terror before hanging off without giving me a chance to speak.

Without a doubt, I left school, got a cab, and raced to the hospital.

My father has been sent to the hospital several times in the past. He has been in and out due to his illness. He has kidney failure, and his pancreas and liver are both deteriorating. My father, who is 72 years old, has always been a fighter. He is a survivor, and I am confident that he will succeed again.

At the hospital foyer, I spotted my mother and sister Rhea.

Rhea is two years older than me and began working shortly after graduating from high school. She is a sophisticated blonde, outgoing, and a socialite. Her lean and curvaceous figure gives her the appearance of a model. While I am an introvert and boyish, I enjoy spending time with a selected circles of friends at school.

Mom, where is Dad? What happened to him?", I asked my mother as she sobbed outside the surgery room.
