The Lucas Journaling Method - Samantha Gail B. Lucas
Introduction
I
wrote this book in order to solve a personal problem. I have already been journaling for years, and this practice has helped me write my books. I have also learned how to deal with my personal issues through journaling. It was during one of my journaling sessions that I realized that I could develop an analog system to simplify the practice of writing down one’s wins, problems, and events which could be both positive and negative. This sounded intriguing to me, and I continued to think about it for several days.
Before I continue, allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Samantha Lucas. I am a published author based in Quezon City, Philippines. My background is in finance and writing, but I was a product of a Liberal Arts university. I focused on the Humanities in college because I wanted to learn more about Literature and History, as well as other subjects such as Philosophy. I also enjoyed writing a lot, and it was a skill that I felt could be improved by constantly exposing myself to the best books and art. I am grateful for my background because it has prepared me for a fruitful career. I first started with banking and finance, and I later moved on to writing full-time. During the pandemic, I explored opportunities in writing, and this was later improved by journaling.
I discovered journaling through a webinar, and it became a daily habit which I developed through everyday practice. Eventually, I wrote the manuscript for my first book, Speak Blog Live, in my journal. I published it in October 2021, and the rest was history. I now have thirteen books, and I have a thriving career as a published author.
I am grateful for the opportunity to use my writing skills in order to produce books which are sold around the world. Having already covered topics such as helping myself and establishing boundaries, I decided that it was time to share the journaling system which I have developed. It has worked for me, and personally, I know that this will also help other people navigate through life and their own challenges. After several days of planning and outlining, I decided to push through with writing my own journaling method, which I named The Lucas Journaling Method.
In this method, I use arrows in order to represent wins, setbacks, and events which are both positive and negative, which I call double arrows. I would like to clarify though that my usage of arrows are not in the mathematical sense. Rather, I have used arrows for the sake of making journal entries more accessible and straightforward to more individuals. I am excited to share this method with everyone because it eliminates the wordiness of journaling, and makes it easier to become a habit because of the simplicity of arrows. Finally, I had fun using this method. I know that if something is fun and engaging, then it will be easier to implement it in one’s daily life.
I hope that the Lucas Journaling Method or LJMethod will help more people work through their own thoughts and improve their lives. It has changed my life. I know that it can potentially improve other people’s lives as well. It is my hope that
