‘Doing Life With Jesus’ intrigued me so much that I read the book from cover to cover in one sitting without leaving my desk. The message inspired and empowered me to arise and run the race of life, knowing that if I made the Almighty God my dwelling, nothing would be impossible for me to achieve. Moreover, the emphasis on engaging the Lord in our daily mundane activities reveals the heart of God as a loving Father who has the best interest of His children at heart and delights to do life with them; understanding this truth is truly liberating.

Gloria also expounds on an important part of the scripture in Psalm 91 which many Christians may not have gained insight into; what it really means to dwell in the secret place. A Note from the Author

Throughout my Christian journey, I have realised that maintaining a fulfilling and fruitful Christian lifestyle is heavily dependent of living in vital union with the Lord. Thus, my quest and pursuit have been to discover practical ways of doing life with Jesus regularly in all spheres of life.

Experiencing the Lord in seemingly non-spiritual activities such as cleaning the house, shopping, or planning a party, brings the reality of God’s presence tangibly into the mundane activities of life.

I love the Church. The joy of fellowshipping and worshiping with other believers is incredible. I often desired to maintain this glorious experience unceasingly. Although the power and presence of God is always greater in corporate Christian gatherings, it is exciting to know we can continue in fellowship with the Lord even outside the confines of the church setting. Indeed, if all believers stay attuned to the Lord in their mundane activities, the beautiful experience at church would even be greater, because everyone would come to church already connected and conscious of the abiding presence of God, and when united in worship, the glory released would even be greater – see 2Chrinicles 5:13

As a busy working mother, also engaged in ministry, I find myself involved in many activities outside the confines of the church and I long to experience God in all these areas too, in order to thrive. I need the Lord every hour for real! It is this quest for encountering more of the Lord in everyday life that inspired the writing of my second book, Abiding In The Secret Place, now revised as ‘Doing life with Jesus’.

Abiding In The Secret Place was specifically addressed to mothers to help them maintain intimacy with the Lord in the midst of their busy lives as parents. However, considering the universality of the theme, I decided to revise and create a new version that will be beneficial to all believers at large. Whilst maintaining the original theme of intimacy with the Lord, I have endeavoured to simplify the content for easier readability and to make it more relatable to all.

PROLOGUE

Abiding In The Presence Of God

Although the theme of abiding in the Lord runs through both the Old and New Testaments, it is prominently emphasised in John 15 where Jesus compares the effectiveness and productivity of a Christian with the attachment of a branch to the Vine. He states that as a branch cannot survive nor become productive if detached from the Vine, we as believers will also become fruitless and eventually wither away if we are not vitally connected to the Vine (Christ). He states in John 15: 5

... for without Me, you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

This shows how essential abiding in Christ is for effective fruitful Christian living. Therefore, learning how to live out this truth should be the pursuit of everyone who wants to live a productive Christina life that pleases the Lord.
