The driver stopped the bus in the same ruthless way he had driven it. Jennifer and Carl looked as relieved as I did when we left the bus at the remote stop and were greeted by a fresh gust of spring wind. In our costumes we looked rather strange for today's civilization, but they weren't quite as unusual as our other cosplays.

Although we looked a little out of time, our coats, vests, shoes and other clothes still had a certain style, and we fitted in perfectly with the setting of the RPG we were about to start today: cosmic horror at the beginning of the 20th century.

A time long gone but still easy to reconstruct. This is exactly what Mason, our current game master, had done. He was a legend in the cosplay scene and thanks to his wealthy parents, he was able to invest a lot of time in this hobby so that he was ultimately able to build a business out of it. His workshop was located in a somewhat remote warehouse, close to a forest and only accessible by bus and car. We could already see it from the bus stop and after the bus had chugged off again, we set off towards the building.

Pretty old, Jen said as she eyed the warehouse like the rest of us.

Are you a bit nervous too? I asked, interrupting their banter.

Why? asked Carl.

Mason Foster had launched a competition to introduce the setting he had built for the Horror RPG. Although I never thought we'd even have a chance, Carl had driven us to put on our best cosplay while writing a pretty awesome blurb about why we were the perfect candidates. In fact, all the effort had paid off and we were now walking in those same outfits towards the warehouse where Mason had his workshop and was also building the setting we would be playing in today. I suspected that he would even include the forest in the game later and was no less excited about it, but my heart was pounding even more when we stood in front of the entrance and waited for Mason to respond to Carl's knock and open it.
