Chapter 1

Aoife was a 5 feet 10 inches tall slim redhead. Her fiery, lustrous, but not overly voluminous hair fell onto her shoulders. Her skin was pale, she had small breasts, narrow waist, and narrow hips. She was rather pretty, but not exactly conventionally hot.

At the age of 22, she was a folklore and mythology student. She was not, however, fascinated or even amused by these things. Quite the opposite! She was very skeptical of anything supernatural. She dislikes superstitions, myths and any sort of magic. Part of it was due to the teasing she had experienced as a redhead in childhood. Other part of it was that her life simply hadn't been too magical.

She was an orphan. She grew up in foster care. She did not get adopted or even get considered for adoption. At least not to her knowledge. The social worker told her that she had no living relatives.

The reason she decided to study folklore and mythology was to debunk myths one day. She dreamed of making a career out of that. As a podcaster, or a writer, didn't matter. All she knew was that this was her mission and passion in life, and she intended to pursue it.

She was not exactly thrilled with how other students were. There were some passionate, cooky nerds who absolutely loved these things. Most people, however, had no passion for this, but also no passion for anything else. It was bearable. But she couldn't say she enjoyed their company. She got along with them, mind you. But she did not have any friends.
