About this ebook

"I, Alpha Miller, hereby reject you, Isla Higgins, as my mate and Luna of the Pembroke pack," he said with a smirk as his beta pinned me against the wall. My heart shattered into a thousand pieces, and I felt a physical ache in my body as pain penetrated through me.

“There is no competition here.” Mora, the girl who had made my life hell since childhood, wrapped herself around my fated mate, and he pulled her into his chest, kissing her with passion and lust. I glared at her in frustration and wished I could punch her fake image.

Isla decides to leave the pack after the humiliating rejection and the betrayal. Five years later, she returns to her old pack after her mother falls ill. As she comes to terms with the past and becomes a respected warrior in the Eclipse Moon Pack, secrets and lies are revealed. Isla must decide whether to give her ex-mate a second chance or realize her worth without him. (This is book 1 of the series.)

Her Rejection, His Regret - Rosie Meachem

CHAPTER Sixty Seven A Strange Place

    Isla’s P.O.V

As I stood in front of the packhouse, the rain was coming down in sheets. I was drenched before I even stepped outside. I looked around, ensuring nobody was watching me before I slipped out the door. I needed to get away, to clear my head, to get away from the chaos that was the packhouse. Cleo was desperate to take over, and I knew that Aaron and his wolf would make me back down if he appeared before I could leave.

We have to get out of here, Cleo told me sternly, and I pushed the door open; the second I slipped outside, the rain started to pelt down on me; it was getting heavier as I rushed towards the woods that separated the pack house from the borders. The wind picked up, and the sky turned dark grey. Suddenly a flash of lightning flashed across the sky; I knew then that I had to get out of there before it was too late.

I was panicking, and the storm was getting worse by the second. I felt like the rain and the wind would swallow me up. I ran mindlessly, my feet slipping on the wet ground, and I could barely see where I was going.

Isla, please slow down. Come back. It's too dangerous out here.

    Then I saw him.

    Aaron.

He was rushing towards me, his eyes full of concern. I felt awful for trying to run away and hurting him like that, but I could not stay here.

Aaron, I need to go, please, I shouted but my voice was lost in the whistling wind.

My sister and the whole of Pembroke were gone. Everything I had ever known had been there at Pembroke. My childhood, my memories. Now it was nothing. Those rogues were going to regret what they had done. But suddenly Aaron was in front of me, reaching out for my hands and telling me to focus on him and only him.

I wanted to listen to him, to let him comfort me, but I couldn't. I was too scared, too hurt, and too angry. I pulled away from him and continued running, the rain soaking through my clothes, my hair sticking to my face. I knew that Aaron was following me, but I didn't care. I just needed to get away from everything, to clear my head, to figure out what I was going to do next.

As I ran, the storm grew worse. The wind howled around me, and the rain came down harder and harder. I could barely see where I was going, and I stumbled several times. But I kept pushing forward, driven by a need to escape from the reality of losing my sister and Pembroke.

After the storm blew me away, I tumbled through the air, my heart pounding in my chest. I had no idea where I was going or what was going to happen to me. I felt myself falling, falling, falling, until I hit the ground with a thud. I lay there for a moment, dazed and confused, trying to get my bearings. When I finally managed to sit up, I realized that I was in a strange place. The trees were tall and twisted, and the ground was covered in a thick layer of moss. I could hear strange noises all around me, like the creaking of branches and the rustling of leaves. I felt a chill run down my spine, and I knew that I was in trouble. But I also knew that I had to keep moving, to keep pushing forward, to find a way out of this strange and terrifying place. So, I got to my feet and started walking, one step at a time, hoping that I would find a way back to safety.

Suddenly I lost my footing again and a scream fell from my mouth as I fell, landing into a heap.

Who are you? What are you doing here? a fierce growl echoed around me.

I'm sorry, I don't know how I ended up here?

Are you ok? the voice sounded worried, but I passed out and then the next thing I know I am waking up in a big warm bed.

I'm in a beautiful room with a large open window that lets in the sunshine and a cool breeze. The bright red curtains are pulled back, and I can see a gorgeous view outside - a lush garden filled with colorful flowers and trees. I feel a sense of peace and serenity wash over me as I take in the beauty of my surroundings.

As I look around, I notice that the magnolia-colored walls could use a fresh coat of paint. The furniture in the room is a bit old-fashioned, but it has a certain charm to it. There's a large wooden chest at the foot of the bed, and a wardrobe with a full-length mirror on the other side of the room. A vase of fresh flowers sits on a small table next to the window, and the room smells of cooking and cleaning products.

Suddenly, a woman with greyish curls rushes over to me and expresses her relief that I'm okay. I ask where I am, but I don't remember anything. The woman is surprised and looks at me with concern.

She introduces herself as Mrs. Jenkins and tells me that I'm in her home.

You are lucky my son found you in time, she said, and I froze.

    What did she mean?

Why can't I remember anything? How did I end up here? Mrs. Jenkins tells me that I must have hit my head and lost my memory, but I'm not so sure that's the whole story.

Do you remember anything? Anything at all? she asked, and I tried to remember something, but nothing was coming to me. It was as if my mind was a blank canvas.

Mrs. Jenkins leaned in; her eyes filled with concern. Do you remember anything? Anything at all? she asked, her voice soft and gentle. I closed my eyes, trying to focus on the memories that were just beyond my reach. But it was as if my mind was a blank canvas, devoid of any color or texture.

I opened my eyes, feeling a sense of frustration and fear wash over me. Mrs. Jenkins seemed to sense my distress and tried to comfort me. She brought me a glass of water and sat down next to me on the bed.

As I sipped the water, I looked around the room, hoping that something would jog my memory. But nothing seemed familiar to me. It was as if I had been transported to a different world.

Mrs. Jenkins told me that I had been asleep for almost a day and that she had been taking care of me. She said that I had a bump on my head and that I must have hit it hard. But I still couldn't remember anything.

I felt a sense of panic rising within me. What if I never regained my memories? What if I was stuck in this strange place forever? But I tried to push those thoughts aside and focus on the present. I knew that I needed to stay calm and figure out what was going on.

CHAPTER Sixty Eight My Mate Is Lost

    Aaron’s pov.

As I trudge through the storm, rain pours down my tired face and soaking through my clothes. My heart is pounding away in my chest as I scream and yell out for Isla.

    Where is she?

I wait a few seconds to hear a response but there is nothing but the sound of the wind and rain howling. Lightning flashes giving me a few seconds of light as it illuminates my surrounding area before plunging me back into the darkness. I am an alpha, but this is scary. Isla is my mate, my Luna and I cannot allow anything to happen to her, I am fiercely protective of my mate, especially since she is a hybrid and it is my job to make sure that she comes to no harm, Not many know of Isla and her powers, it would cause an uproar within the pack and my own family, if they knew their Luna was a witch. But I did not care about that since I love her bones of her, my wolf would rip anyone’s throat out who dared to harm a hair on her body.

All that mattered was finding Isla and getting her back to safety. It was far too dangerous out here for her.

My Wolf was getting more and more frustrated by the passing moments as we searched high and low for our mate, it was almost impossible to pick up her scent as I knew that she had used her powers to hide her scent from me, I was glad that I had found her latter in time. She was already so upset that her sister had been killed. I could not believe it myself, however, Isla needed to know that I was here for her no matter what.

I called out again but still nothing.

I tried to stay calm and focus on finding Isla, but it was becoming harder and harder. I knew that I would soon need to find shelter and I was getting close to the border. I had to be careful since Isla could have already crossed over and I would not know since she had cast a spell over herself to contain our bond.

Isla? I called one last time before the bolt of thunder cracked again and lightning lit the sky. The rain was still pouring down heavily.

    Where is she? I screamed.

I trudged through the dense forest, my boots sinking into the mud with each step. The rain was coming down in sheets, drenching me from head to toe. I pulled my hood tighter around my face, but it did little to shield me from the relentless downpour. The trees swayed and creaked in the wind, their leaves rustling like whispers in the storm. I pressed on, determined to find Isla, my eyes scanning the undergrowth for any sign of her.

As I walked deeper into the forest, the rain only seemed to get heavier. The sound of the raindrops hitting the leaves and the ground was deafening. The trees were so dense that it was hard to see more than a few feet in front of me. I had to be careful not to trip over any roots or rocks that were hidden beneath the mud. The wind was picking up, causing the trees to sway even more violently. It was getting harder to keep my balance. But I couldn't stop. I had to find Isla.

I could feel my clothes sticking to my skin, and my hair was plastered to my forehead. My teeth were chattering, and my fingers were numb from the cold. Despite the discomfort, I was determined to keep going. I had to find Isla. Suddenly, I heard a faint sound in the distance. It sounded like someone was calling my name. I couldn't be sure, but I had to investigate. I quickened my pace, my eyes scanning the undergrowth for any sign of movement.

    Nigel.

Suddenly my beta is by my side.

Alpha, you need to come back, the whole place is getting flooded, and a tree has fallen blocking the road so nobody can get in or out. My beta informed me, and I growl because I am already stressed about losing my mate.

Nigel, it’s Isla. She’s missing. She’s blocked me from tracking her and her scent, but I have a bad feeling that she has gone back to Pembroke! I shout back at him, and he looks up at me wide-eyed. He knows all about my mate’s hybrid nature since he is my beta and I trust him with my life.

    We will find her.

I hope that he is right but I’m beginning to lose any hope, the more time that passes.

I cannot leave yet. I need to find her. I told my beta.

As I stood there in the pouring rain, I felt a sense of despair wash over me. The thought of losing Isla was too much to bear. And now, with the floodwaters rising and the road blocked, my chances of finding her were dwindling by the minute. My beta, Nigel, looked at me with concern in his eyes. He knew how much Isla meant to me, and he was determined to help in any way he could.

Alpha, we will find her, he said, his voice steady and reassuring. I nodded, grateful for his support. But as the minutes ticked by, I couldn't help but feel a sense of hopelessness creeping in and the thought of losing her again was unbearable.

    Where the heck is she?

My wolf whimpered sadly, he felt as weak and sad as I did without our Isla close by. She could be lying dead in a ditch for all I knew.

Alpha I've sent some of our best warriors out to search but come on I'm taking you home. You will catch your death out here. Nigel insisted and I did not attempt to argue. I knew deep down that he was right.

    CHAPTER Sixty Nine Guilty feelings

    Aaron’s POV

I wake up the following day having hardly slept a wink; I feel miserable and angry. I feel like a ship lost at sea without Isla by my side. I miss her company and the sense of purpose that we shared. It's hard to find the motivation to continue my work without her there to support me. Every second, I find myself searching for a way to bring her back, hoping that I'll be able to reunite with her soon. It's like a piece of me is missing, and I can't quite figure out how to fill it.

But I won't give up. I'm determined to find a way to bring Isla back, no matter what it takes. I'll scour every inch of this world if I have to, searching for the clues that will lead me to her. I know that I need to stay focused and keep pushing forward, but it's hard to do that when I feel so alone.

I can feel my heart racing as I think about the dangers that lie ahead. But I won't let fear stop me. I'll do whatever it takes to find Isla and return her to safety. I hope she's out there somewhere, waiting for me to find her. I'll never give up on her.

It's been a day since Isla disappeared, but I'm already panicking. I've searched everywhere, but there's no sign of her. I don't know what to do.

I've sent out my best warriors to search for her, but they haven't found anything yet. I'm trying to stay strong, but it's hard when I feel so helpless.

I keep thinking about all the things that could have happened to her. What if she's hurt? What if she's lost? What if she's been taken by someone?

I'm trying not to let my mind run wild, but it's hard. I want to find her, hold her in my arms, and tell her how much I love her.

I know that I can't give up, that I have to keep searching for her no matter what. But it's hard to keep going when I feel like I'm running out of time.

Every moment feels like an eternity, filled with uncertainty and fear. I hope that somewhere out there, Isla is safe and knows how much I care about her.

I'll never stop looking for her, no matter how long it takes. I hope that I find her soon.

I can sense my beta at the door, and I hope that he is bringing good news to me. But I am quickly disappointed when he walks with a tray of food. It may be my favorite thing to eat and smell so delicious but I cannot face eating. I can't face much without Isla. My wolf has been quiet since she disappeared, he is struggling without our mate.

Alpha, you must eat. We have to keep our strength up. I know that you are missing her but come on please eat. Nigel sighed and offered me the plate but I shook my head and looked away from it.

She must have gone back to the coven. I can't think of anywhere else she would be. All because I made her keep her hybrid nature from my family. I thought they would reject her if they knew she was a witch. I explained but Nigel knew all this and still listened to me. He was a good friend and that is why I had made him my beta when k had taken over the alpha title from my father. My father lived in a cottage on the outskirts of the pack. He mostly kept himself to himself and had a job in the main town. I wondered what he would make of all this.

"Your father would know that the moon goddess paired you and Isla
