PART ONE

SEEING

Self-Confidence, Self-Worth, and Self-Revelations

The One Thing That Transforms Everything

The author shares their experience of longing for something to make them happy and fulfilled, such as a job, achievement, marriage, or having kids. They believe that if they could achieve these things, they would eventually feel worthiness and love. However, this belief drove them to spend most of their life hiding in plain sight, feeling unworthy.

The author has learned that waiting on x, y, or z to happen and expecting to feel happy, fulfilled, and worthy is never going to happen. Nothing actually changes, even when things change all around you, unless things also change within you. The journey of truly learning to believe you're worthy will impact every other part of your life in a way that accomplishments, relationship status, job titles, gold medals, cosmetic surgery, material possessions, or the number on the bathroom scale never can.

Self-confidence is based on mastery and identity, while self-worth is based on the belief in one's abilities and value.

Self-confidence is optional but essential, and it eventually surrenders. Self-worth is the foundation on which self-confidence is built, and it is the house one builds on top of it. The common misconception is that building self-confidence will give one feelings of innate love, enoughness, and value. However, self-worth does not.

Structural self-worth is independent of external circumstances, strengths, weaknesses, successes, and failures. It is independent of successes and failures, and can fluctuate easily. Without strong self-worth, self-confidence can shatter when faced with failures, setbacks, or rejection.

Structural self-worth gives a resilient core that is difficult to diminish. When one has strong self-worth, they are less complacent and lose ambition, as they are no longer affected by external circumstances. The beauty of strong self-worth is that it doesn't fluctuate easily in response to external wins or
