ACT ONE
TIME: The present. Late Friday night.
PLACE: ANNE’S bedroom in her condominium.
AT RISE ANNE ENTERS L through door into bedroom. ANNE walks over to chaise lounge front stage L and starts undressing out of her business suit, placing discarded clothes on lounge. Naked, ANNE walks to dresser at right rear, opens the top drawer, pulls out a sheer black negligee and puts negligee on. ANNE sits down on chair in front of dresser looking at herself very carefully in the mirror. ANNE gives a big, disgusted sigh as she opens a jar of face cream and begins creaming her face. Coldly staring at herself in the mirror she methodically starts to wipe the cream off with a tissue. Face cleansing done ANNE heaves another big, disgusted sigh, walks to bed at front stage R, folds back the bedding, gets into bed and turns out the lamp on the nightstand. Stage lights go out. There is complete darkness.
Low stage lights come on very slowly. Sitting on floor, beside bed, facing audience, ROBED WOMAN NUMBER ONE and ROBED MAN NUMBER ONE dressed in hooded, long, flesh colored robes. ANNE is asleep. Slowly she begins to awaken. Awake, ANNE rises from bed, walks over to the first door of a three sectional closet at left rear, opens the door extending her right arm forward into the closet. ENTER MAN NUMBER ONE dressed in a vest of a business suit, jockey brief underwear, and leather shoes. Holding ANNE’S right hand he kisses her tenderly on the lips then walks over to chaise lounge front stage L and begins undressing, placing his discarded clothes on the chaise lounge, leaving only his underwear on. ANNE returns to bed and then MAN NUMBER ONE joins her in bed. ANNE and MAN NUMBER ONE are propped up against their pillows in a sitting position. ANNE rests her head on MAN NUMBER ONE’S left shoulder. MAN NUMBER ONE turns his head, looking down at top of ANNE’S head. Reaching his right hand over in front of ANNE, he starts caressing her neck and left shoulder.
MAN NUMBER ONE
Tired?
