Debbie Sheffield Barnett is a native of Oklahoma. She is married and has 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and a great grandchild. Debbie is a retired teacher from the Oklahoma City Public Schools. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education and has a minor in Music from the University of Central Oklahoma, in Edmond, Oklahoma. During her years in the classroom, Debbie told her childhood stories to her students to teach life lessons when they went through struggles and guided them in overcoming them. She used these oral stories and decided to put these experiences that she used in the classroom into written stories for all to read and enjoy. Debbie is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, and serves and dedicates her musical and teaching abilities to the work of church ministry. She is an accomplished singer, musician, composer of gospel and piano pieces for children, and an author of 2 children’s book. “The Box,” and “I Love You Grandma…I Love You Too.”
