Thank you Kate Stanton! I thought I was the only person who dreaded their birthday (“The birthday blues”, issue 112). Like you, I hate the song, the attention, the pressure of it having to be a ‘special’ day, and the subsequent disappointment when it doesn’t go the way I imagined. I also worry about showing enough gratitude when I receive gifts, and hate that because of social media, I feel like my popularity is publicly highlighted by how many people wish me a happy birthday.
