About The Author
Books By This Author
As always, this is for you, Mom. Your strength, love, and guidance have been my north star through the darkest nights and brightest days. This journey, with all its twists and turns, would not have been the same without your unwavering support. Thank you for being my constant in a world of variables.
Prologue: The Echoes of Silence
In the silence that's fallen over the earth, an intense sense of loneliness surrounds me. The air itself seemed to suffocate the very essence of what was once alive. The world, vibrant no more, lies stretched out—a desolate canvas marked by the chaos I've unleashed. Above, the sky mourns in perpetual twilight, its brilliance swallowed by the dawn of the apocalypse.
Bare trees line my path, their branches reaching out, yearning for redemption from this cursed existence. Their pleas are carried on the wind, a haunting elegy for a world lost to darkness, leaving an indelible mark on the canvas of my conscience.
The earth beneath cracks, a barren testament to the devastation. Walking through what's left of a once thriving city, I'm surrounded by the decay of human ambition, buildings crumbled, dreams dashed. Each step I take echoes, a solitary sound amidst this vast graveyard. The air is ripe with the decay's stench, hinting at untold horrors that might be lurking, waiting. Scattered remnants of everyday lives—a doll, a book, spectacles—tell silent stories of abrupt endings.
As I ponder the decisions that brought me here, regret fills me. The book, its pages once tempting with forbidden knowledge, now serves as a grim reminder of my foolishness. Drawn to its mysteries, I never imagined the price would be this high—a world plunged into an endless night.
A shattered mirror catches my gaze, reflecting a face haunted by regret. My eyes, deep with grief, betray the enormity of my sin—the architect of this desolation. Since the day I found that cursed book, whispers have shadowed me, alongside remnants of a world now alien. Creatures, birthed from the darkest depths of nightmare with many legs, roam this shattered landscape, a constant, silent testament to the chaos I've unleashed.
These beings, so foreign and formidable, roam the ruins, their many-legged forms skittering at the periphery of my vision. They are silent watchers in this hell of my own making, enigmatic guardians amidst the ashes. The land stretches out, a desolate expanse under a sky forever dimmed, a realm where hope has died alongside the laughter and love that once animated these streets.
Every step through this desolation is a painful reminder of what was lost. The book, its dark knowledge once a lure I couldn't resist, is now but debris in the wind. Each word I spoke from its pages fractured the world further, unleashing an endless night.
Amidst the ruins of a world I cherished, now brought to its knees by my hands, I stand alone. Gabrielle, the one who summoned the darkness, the unwitting arbiter of this apocalypse. My heart is heavy with the weight of what I have done, burdened by the enormity of my actions.
For it was I, Gabrielle, who called forth these demonic beings, transforming the light of day into an eternal twilight of despair and ruin. And as I stand amongst the remnants of civilization, accompanied only by these unearthly creatures, I confront the irrevocable truth: I
