Acknowledgements
To all the men we have loved, lost and learnt from. Without you, we would not be the women we are today.
A huge thank you goes out to all of the amazing women who have been brave enough to share their thoughts with me for the purpose of putting together this book.
I hope have I have treated your intimate thoughts sensitively and that through writing them it has helped set free some of the emotion previously locked away.
Introduction
This book began in the early hours one morning after yet another sleepless night wondering what the hell went wrong. After months of unsuccessfully trying to deal with the abrupt ending of what I had thought was an amazing relationship, I knew I that something had to change.
I was sick of questioning what went wrong and of criticising ‘him’ in my mind. After all, he was not a bad person. But all I could think of were unhappy thoughts of what had been ‘done to me’. Now, I still had enough sanity at this stage to realise that this was becoming increasingly damaging to my outlook on life in general, as it was beginning to effect everything I did both in business and personally.
So, I decided to……. ‘think of nice things’.
I forced myself to remember all of the good times that we had shared and write them down. As soon as I did so, the thoughts….and tears flowed. Memories of past relationships also surfaced. The release of pent up emotion was immense, and I found that I was actually enjoying doing something for the first time in ages.
It seems ridiculous now. The thought of me sitting there wailing out loud to myself, not caring what I looked or sounded like. I hammered feverishly away at the letters on my keyboard, tears and snot pouring down my face, illuminated unflatteringly by Microsoft.
