My mom’s friend just signed her divorce. And it probably made me a terrible person, but I was happy about it.

Her loss was my gain.

Taking advantage of my mom consoling her friend and drinking wine, I sneaked out. Jace, my ex, invited me to a party tonight. It was my opportunity to test if Dawson Matthews felt the same for me as I did for him. With any luck, he would.

A few hours later, I tagged Dawson on a picture. He forbade me from going to parties with his son. If he had a problem with me being here, he better do something about it.

I bit my lip as people commented on the picture. In the background, Jace talked to a group of people.
