About this ebook

Ultimate Fantasy:

Gil was a regular guy before he was transported to another world. In a world of magic and monsters, he must struggle to survive. Here he is, the chosen one. But the world is familiar to him. It reminds him of his favorite RPG video game but now he is living it. When monsters attack him, the pain and struggle are real. Does he have what it takes to be the Warrior of Light?

In this new found fantasy world, he first encounters a female thief who reminds him strangely of a beautiful young woman from his past—in the real world. Will she be the key to unlocking the secret of his quest in Ultimate Fantasy?

This is a LitRPG, Epic Fantasy, Harem Fantasy and Video Game Parody.
Trigger Warning...
Warning this book contains some very steamy sexual scenes but would be considered rated R, and not X. Some scenes do not fade to gray but they get hot first... read at your discretion.

    About the Author

    Chapter one

    I

My friend Gwane and I had been best friends for years. I was nineteen when we met. He was about 9 years older than me. We were two musicians with dreams. But I think Gwane did too many drugs when he was younger and spent a lot of his time being a free-spirit. He never fit in the real world. I understood him; even if no one else did. He was a guitar player in my band. We had a hard time making a living and playing music. It was always one step forward and two steps backwards.

He was a music historian and a student of many things. For example, he knew everything about The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan. He could tell you what guitars they played, and what tuning tricks they used. Gwane could tell story after story about bands he had read about from the 60s-the 90s. He was also into astrology, philosophy, and politics. If you got him to open up and talk, He could talk your ear off of about any number of things. But mostly he was a very passive, introverted guy. He liked to keep to himself he was reclusive and had borderline compulsive hording behavior.

I was more aggressive and always trying to figure out how to make it big, or at least make a buck. But both of us had fallen on hard times. Gwane more than me. He was 46 and living with his parents, and they hated it. His car had broken down, and he was saving money trying to get it fixed. His younger girlfriend had moved on and gotten married, leaving him depressed and alone. He started getting gray hairs and his hair was thinning and looking older.

On the other hand, I never felt my age. At least my hair was still blonde, and I didn't have any gray hairs, yet. I hit the gym, I enjoyed working out. My body was not perfect, but I was slim and toned and building some upper body strength. I was often mistaken for being in my late twenties. But in my twenties I had long hair, but now I was over 35 and I usually kept my hair short shaved on the sides with an accentuated part on the side and long on top. Unfortunately, I was depressed now and hadn't gotten my hair cut in more than a month. I hadn't shaved in a week.

I wasn't too excited about settling down with any, one woman. After trying it before and failing, it seemed like too much of a hassle. And Gwane's last break up crushed him. I tried to cheer him up when I could, but things weren't going too well for me, either. I was psychologically unemployable. That really means I just didn't want to work for anyone or have a boss. After starting a small cafe business, the COVID-19 destroyed it and took all my savings. I was on unemployment, but that had run out. Now the pandemic was over, but inflation was rising. Everything, food, housing, cars and energy cost more money.

I was down-to my last credit card.

Gwane, let's do something—anything, I said. Let's get out of this town and start over. We should redefine ourselves.

Gil, what are talking about? And where would we go? Gwane asked. I could get a job at the plant. As a helper I could make fourteen dollars an hour. Four-teen dollars. Gwane stressed the number as if I was supposed to be impressed.

That's great, Gwane, but that isn't the money it used to be. You'll spend twenty on gas filling up your gas tank every day, I said. I'm not saying don't get that job for now, but is that the end goal?

My friend Abe makes seventeen dollars as a supervisor, and that's not over-time pay, said Gwane. Then you get time and a half.

I get it, I said. And you should do that for now to get you back on your feet. But I know you bro. You will work for one month, for overtime pay and start calling in sick. It's what you always do because you are so unhappy. You should find a way to use your brilliant mind.

    Overtime pay, Gil, said Gwane.

Okay, I said, doubtful that Gwane could get the job in the first place because of his history of quitting jobs or getting fired for calling in. Gwane was my dearest friend, and I knew he was very intelligent, but he simply did not use his intelligence in such a way to capitalize on it. Gwane's nickname in the late 90s and 2000s was the wizard. He had a vast amount of useless knowledge about music and playing guitar and psychology and even pick-up game. He usually had a girlfriend, but they would all eventually leave him because of his personality quirks and his disassociation from reality.

He would get good jobs and work 3-6 months and then lose the job and be on unemployment for 6 months. That was his pattern. But who was I to judge him? As his best friend. I wanted to help him, but I couldn't. He didn't want to help himself.

After my talk with Gwane at his parents' house, I was emotionally exhausted. I unwound by eating pizza and drinking whiskey. My apartment was too quiet, so I put on The Smashing Pumpkins Gish album on my TV streaming service.

I had heard the album before, but this time it resonated with me.

Billy Corgan's lyrics hit close to home:

Fool enough to almost be it. Cool enough not quite to see it doomed. Pick your pocket full of sorrow. And run away with me tomorrow. June, we'll try and ease the pain but somehow feel the same. Well, no one knows where our secrets go. I send a heart to all my dearies. When your life is so, so dreary.

Music was life sometimes. A beautifully harsh but honest reality. Knowing you were nothing more than a speck in the universe could be a daunting mind-fuck.

After drinking whiskey and coke-zero on the rocks, I decided to play a vintage video game. I plugged in my old game console to play my favorite game again, Ultimate Fantasy. I put the cartridge in the game console. My finger was on the cartridge when a bolt of lightning shot through my livingroom. I could smell burned electric wires and smoke burned my eyes. Extreme heat filled the room and everything went dark as I fell unconscious.

    II

I awoke laying on my back in a forest. Harp music played the most beautiful music in the background. The melody sounded familiar. It was the theme song for Ultimate Fantasy. Where was it coming from? There were shadows moving around in the distance. I felt the moisture of the wet grass as I turned to roll over and get up. It was dark, but the sun was rising.

Where am I? I said, thinking out loud. And how did I get here? The last thing I remembered was being in my apartment, drinking whiskey, and then there was a lightning bolt. Did I black out? Am I dead? I'm not wearing my regular clothes.

I was wearing what looked like a red medieval gambeson.

But I didn't have much time to think about that because three wolves were soon surrounding me. They weren't puppies; they were tall timber wolves like the ones I had seen at the zoo, but hungry-looking. The
