Chapter 1
Chloe was a happy little girl. She loved family days out when her Granddad took her and her big brother Shaun on different adventures.
She loved the Play Park. There, they played safely, climbing, jumping, and swinging on the frames and obstacles. They pretended they were pirates.
After the play hour finished, they enjoyed their cold-drinks and snacks.
They usually brought nuts when they visited the quiet part of the park. If they kept quiet and still, the hungry grey squirrels came out for food. They were friendly and begged the children for treats. The children chuckled as they placed them on the ground.
The bravest one came up to Chloe. He placed his tiny paws on her fingers. He gently took the big nutshell in his mouth and turned away. The other squirrels gained courage and came forward. The bold squirrel returned for more. The children chortled at his impudence.
Chloe, like her brother, adored animals. They had a big dog, and Grandma had a cat and a terrapin. She loved all animals.
Shaun especially loved dinosaurs. Chloe was not so fond of them.
When they were younger, they had enjoyed an incredible adventure.
One glorious summer, they visited Dinosaur Park near the mountains. They had met the fearsome models there. Magically, they came alive in their presence.
Only the children were permitted to see them as the powers protecting the dinosaurs in the park prevented adults from learning the truth.
This adventure had been special. They had learned that the dinosaurs had been saved from extinction by magic, many years before.
The creatures lived in the park, invisible to humans. They were safe now. The dinosaurs had a special mission: to help humans in times of great need.
To protect them, magic had guided the humans to create the models for public exhibition, but the hard shells were used secretly for the invisible dinosaurs to hide safely when visitors called. However, they could reveal their true selves to chosen child guests who would become special helpers. After meeting the dinosaurs in their home, the children made an exciting and daring rescue in the town. They had gone together to the Children’ Hospital, where a fire had endangered all the patients and staff.
The children and the dinosaurs made a formidable team. They worked bravely, saving the children and the grown-ups. No-one had been seriously hurt.
Magic had caused Chloe and Shaun to forget, initially, the heroic day to preserve the secret of the dinosaurs and the mystical park.
After another outing, the children had an incredible dream about the big rescue. As the dream had seemed so dramatic, they were intrigued. They became determined to revisit the park to satisfy their curiosity.
In the amazing dream, they returned to the park where they met the Wizard who cared for all the wonderful beasts.
That adventure now seemed so long past. Chloe remembered that the invisible dinosaurs could take on their real forms if people were in danger and needed their help. The beasts had special whistles to call one another to action.
The Wizard had sworn the children to secrecy.
Chloe cherished that memory. She had made a special friend in Trevor, the pterodactyl. She hoped one day to meet her special pal again.
When they, later, returned to Dinosaur Park, they reunited with the Wizard and their friends at a party. They learned that they had truly performed the great rescue.
The Wizard knew, then, that they wanted to become special helpers.
They received their Special Helper whistles and awaited an opportunity to serve others once more.
Chapter 2
The children loved the sunny days when they visited the mountains and the golden beaches by the sea. They marvelled at the steep sides and the brave little sheep chewing on the meagre grass. The drive never took long. There was always much to see through the windows.
One day, they set off and Granddad teased them. He told them that dragons lived in the neighbourhood, and they were waiting to greet them as they passed by. Chloe was fascinated. She looked out of the window keenly to see if any of them were hiding.
As they approached a big brown road sign, she saw a little red dragon painted on it.
What is his name, Granddad?
she chirped, excitedly.
Granddad was flummoxed for
