Chapter 01
The Memories
Ten-year-old children can get into Big messes, but a particular kid named Duke just crossed the threshold… Now here he was, sitting in the back seat, stuck in a rally of bullets, with his dragon gripped onto the hood of the car, as the cab driver was just two miles from the destination: Mexico City. Wait; rewind it all! Did I say dragon? Of course, I did, or else why would he be in a mess?
Police vans trailed the car as the dragon was labelled a ‘threat to humanity.’ Can things get any more worse! Did you really have to freeze-blast the nearest cop for fun?
Duke grumbled as he scolded the dragon while he banged the auburn ceiling of the cab. His dusky brown face had darkened around a large cut, that emblazoned his cheek as it glistened red on his soft skin. His manners were dank from a year of loneliness except for the dragon. Here and there the dragon poked its long and slender neck down and peeked through the window as if to check on Duke. Her head had mesmerising iridescent blue scales, eyes full of endlessly colour-changing irises! And the most beautiful of all: two twisted horns holding an orb of glowing frost whirling in their grip, it was purely magical just to witness such a thing… Well, it was magic by which the frost glowed and floated between the horns!
The radio was blaring as the podcaster was running a documentary on how dangerous the Australian Alligators were. Duke chuckled as he remembered seeing a frog with an alligator’s mouth in ‘the world below the one we live in’ as he called it. It was quite a funny memory: the frog was always falling on its mouth because the large alligator's mouth was too large for the tiny frog's body!
Putting aside the funny memories, Duke remembered the first few days he entered ‘the world below the one we live in’ and how frightened he was! ‘Poor me, I was just a nine-year-old!’ Duke thought as he recalled:
Chapter 02
The Dig Site
Though it was always hot in the desert, today was exceedingly hot!
Duke was wondering: Why did I even agree with Mom to visit the dino dig site, it’s blistering hot out here!
Now you may ask, what is a nine-year-old boy doing at a dig site? Well, by a pure twist of fate, his mom was the dig team’s lead
