About this ebook

Dain is determined to break the curse trapping Ax in servitude to the residents of Ivy House. Unfortunately, he is still a novice mage and information about this type of magic is hard to find. Add to that, his attention is pulled away from the problem when his brother Borin shows up to warn him that their eldest brother has become obsessed with recapturing Dain.

And Jeremy had called in a mage to beat Dain. One who had both power and experience and wants the Ivy House- and Ax's power- for himself.

Ax had not appreciated the first time Pef stopped by with a gift of food, knowing the reputation and habits of satyrs, but Dain took the creature at his word that he would not lay a finger on any who did not truly wish it.  And Dain had to admit, to himself if never to anyone else, that he credited Pef with the new and thrilling aspect to his relationship with Ax.

If it hadn't been for the sudden appearance of the satyr one day two weeks previous which spurred his friend on with an unexpected bout of jealousy, Ax might never have revealed what was in his heart – and Dain might never have known quite how wonderful the world could be.

Ax now mostly kept his glares unthreatening when he found Pef at the Ivy House, and Pef was deferential to Ax and made sure to bring what he called offerings every few days, despite Dain's insistence that they weren't necessary.

Finally, pushed past his limited patience with his studies, Dain shut the text and growled at it before tossing it into the seat Ax
