The impact of internet in this modern world - Dr. David Tee
Imagine a world without the Internet
Believe it or not, there are still generations alive today that experienced a non-Internet world. They have seen the changes and the impact technology has had when it invented this unique and original device.
For those generations, it Is not hard to imagine what the world was like prior to this invention but for those generations born after 1992 when the Internet was released to the public, it is.
For many pre-Internet generations, life was simpler and easier to handle, and people did not know your business or filmed everything that took place and then posted it for the world to see.
Privacy was king and what was done was not known unless either the private parties released that information or skilled journalists wrote about it in traditional media outlets.
Regular people did not know anyone else’s business unless they were people who were nosy and spied upon their neighbors. It was a vastly different world prior to the invention of the internet.
One where people could feel safe when doing their daily routine. However, safety is not a concern these days as there are far too many people wanting fame or popularity than privacy and this is one of the major impacts this technology has had on an unsuspecting world.
Unfortunately, this has not had the most positive impact as the world is inundated with useless information about unknown people who want their 15 minutes of fame.
Achieving fame and popularity in the Internet Age does not always bring the responses people want and they have to live with the results of their actions. This is another major impact the Internet has had on the world.
The ability to spot vulnerable people has opened the door to nefarious schemes and behavior and those seeking fame and popularity, often end up victims, not the treasured personality they had hoped to become.
However, the negative impact is often overshadowed by the positive impact the Internet has provided for many remote people groups. Once isolated, these remote communities can now be connected to the rest of the world via satellite and other technology that facilitates.
What this has done is allowed these remote communities access to resources they may not have had access to without the invention of the internet. They can receive emergency aid far faster than their ancestors did in the pre-Internet Age.
This ability to be connected means that lives would be saved which would have been lost even if the injuries were minor. The Internet has provided advancements in connectivity allowing for better medical treatment for people who have never seen a modern hospital.
When focusing on the positive impact the Internet has had since 1992, one can say that the Internet was a great invention. It is one that has been able to improve the quality of life for everyone who has access to it.
That reasoning has been one of the major foundations for broadening the reach of the Internet. While not a new invention, since its public release 30 years ago the total amount of Internet users has skyrocketed.
Billions of people are not connected and interacting with cultures and other aspects of international life. They would never have known about these cultures or what could be achieved if it were not for the Internet.
But is the impact of the Internet on the modern world always positive? Unfortunately, like any invention, there is always a downside. This downside has spawned a lot of criminal activity that has harmed millions of people if not hundreds of millions.
That is an impact that has to be discussed as well What follows will be a look at the positive and negative impact the Internet has had on the modern world.
The internet has touched just about every facet of an industry found in life. Many people who grew up with this technology may not be able to live life if the Internet suddenly went away.
They have had no experience with a non-Internet world and would be hard-pressed to function as well as survive. This lack of survival skills along with other important topics will be discussed in the following pages.
It is important to get a well-rounded picture of the complete impact the Internet has had to make a very intelligent decision on whether the Internet is a good invention or a bad one.
Life prior to the invention of the Internet was much easier to live simply because people did not remain locked in their homes socializing through their computers.
While almost every home had a TV and board games to entertain themselves, they also went out to meet friends or make new ones through a variety of activities.
This engagement was simple and if you did not like someone, you just avoided them. They did not have access to your personal information. Plus, bullies had a limited audience they could reach.
The Internet changed all of that and gave certain people more power, especially those who learned how to manipulate data and could hack into other people’s computers.
That is the bad news of the Internet. The good news is that it does have a very large positive impact that negates many of the negative issues that criminals and other bad people have faced with this invention.
What you think of the Internet may be changed as you read the following pages. After reading this you may change your mind and alter your Internet habits.
The Internet is like any other invention. It may have been designed with good intentions and for a positive effect on society in general but there are always people ready and willing to use a good invention for bad purposes.
How you and your friends use it may impact the quality of your lives and make them a bit better or somewhat worse. It is hard to say how it works out as every situation is different.
Everything has a beginning
Those generations that have been born after the Internet became a world-wide sensation may not realize that even this device had a beginning.
No matter what implement, tool, or vehicle you have used in your lifetime, someone somewhere had to get the idea to create it. It took years of experimentation to reach a point where the invention was ready for manufacturing.
Trial and error was the norm and the only method available to bring an idea to life. Different raw materials had to be found before the prototypes could be constructed and tested.
Then testing had to take place and if flaws were found, it was back to the drawing board. Inventors lost fortunes trying to make their creative ideas work.
They also had to worry about someone stealing their invention, which happened often. Being an inventor was not the way to fame, popularity, or fortune unless you were one of
