Chapter 1
Digital Revolution and Internet Growth- A Brief History
I know most people don't like to talk about history because sometimes it's difficult to understand or relate to names, terms and acronyms.
I also used to find history boring and uninteresting; not until I discovered an interesting fact…
Would you like to know what I discovered?
If you can understand the past you are more likely to predict or better still shaped the future
If this is all you got from this book, I believe it's worth it, trust me.
The bottom line here is don't ignore history off aspects of your life you wish to improve or manifest.
OK. Please pardon me, I'm not trying to make this a philosophy book.
But honestly, history helps us to at least have an idea of the past, which helps us understand the present and make better decisions for the future.
Actually, I don't intend to bug you with all the history of digital technology, but I want us to look at where we are coming from in terms of digital tools and resources like smart devices and the internet, this is the only way we can anticipate what is possible in the future, thereby helping us rightly position and reposition ourselves today.
This book intends to drive us somewhere, for us to fully understand where we are heading to, we need to know where the ideas in the subsequent chapters are coming from.
So let’s dig a little bit into digital revolution.
Digital Revolution
It's no more breaking news that we are living in a digital era. It's also obvious that the digital tools around us are always evolving.
With your personal experience, you can tell that the digital tools you are enjoying today have evolved from a primitive version to the modern devices we have today.
The gadget you are using to read this book e.g phone, laptop, iPad, etc. the tool you used to download it- the internet and also the platform where it was downloaded all started first as an idea in someone’s mind, then a primitive version and have advanced to the sophisticated devices, tools or channels we have today.
