    Chapter One

The lava bubbles away, glowing way below the broken bridge.

The events that just happened left the young piglin speechless. The reveal, the betrayal, the escape of his enemy…nothing went right today.

Matt’s chest rises and falls, breathing hard from exhaustion. The Blaze Advisor just managed to escape with the Piglin King. His thoughts were running a mile a minute. The quick revelations haven’t sunk in yet, but knowing that it was the Blaze Advisor who killed Matt and planned everything for his own selfish gain was infuriating. The Blaze Advisor served the king all this time, and now he betrayed everyone. Matt wasn’t even sure how the traitor got to control everything when the Piglin King was still around, but he thinks he will find out soon enough.

The bridge was now quiet; there were no footsteps or the sounds of clanking metal armor. It was just Matt, the bridge, and the bubbling lava. Feeling dejected, he walks back inside the fortress with a frown on his face. He saw Alex helping Toki get up. The wandering trader was now fully healed thanks to the potion of regeneration he just drank; the arrow that hit him was now gone from his shoulder.

    Everything okay? Matt asked weakly.

Toki just nodded in response. How about you? What happened out there?

…He got away. The Blaze Advisor got away, and he took my father with him. I couldn’t do anything, Matt replied. His eyes were close to tears as he remembered everything that just happened.

I thought I killed you! the Blaze Advisor exclaimed.

You were the one who tried to kill me? Matt asked in shock.

Yes! I was the one who tried to kill you. I wanted your throne. I wanted the crown. I deserved it; I’ve served the Piglin King for so many years! This has to be my reward, he said.

You know you’re wrong! This is being greedy! the young piglin shouted.

You know nothing! I know everything! I controlled the Piglin King’s Royal Guards! I made them make sure you were never coming back! I did everything right, and yet here you are, he fought back.

Give me my dad back! Leave him out of this! Matt shouted.

No can do. He’s part of my plan… the Blaze Advisor teased.

    You…!

Oh, but how did you live? You’re not supposed to be alive! His face changes

because of a realization. Oh, that witch! I knew I couldn’t trust her! She revived you, didn’t she? the Blaze Advisor interrogated.

Not to worry…this is just a minor setback, he laughed. I will be back. The Blaze Advisor turned around and sprinted towards the edge of the bridge. He was trying to escape again.

Hey, wait! Matt exclaimed. He chased after the Blaze that also held his father, the Piglin King. He tried to run the fastest he’s ever run in his life. He didn’t want to let this villain take away his father. He ran faster and faster, closing the gap between him and the Blaze Advisor.

    But he wasn’t fast enough.

The Blaze Advisor didn’t even think and jumped straight down. By the time Matt reached the end, there was no trace of him or his father. There was no splash in the lava, and he did not hear a single sound nearby. As much as it broke Matt’s heart to say it…

The Piglin King and his Blaze Advisor disappeared without a trace.

Alex’s face softened; it was obvious that she felt bad for him. I’m sorry, Matt…that’s terrible.

It’s not your fault. We’ll get ‘em soon, Toki comforted him.

Thanks. Let’s just go around and see what we find. You know, loot some stuff. Maybe we’ll uncover more things. Then, let’s go back to Fabien after, Matt said simply.

It was clear that Matt was upset, but it’s not like his friends can do anything about it right now. His emotions were too raw, and all they can do right now is listen to him and support him. He wasn’t in the mood to talk or be friendly, but that’s something that Alex and Toki could understand. The both of them agreed to Matt’s plan in silence, and they went to walk. There were no more enemies around; the battle had wiped all of the wither skeletons out. It was just the sounds of the trio’s footsteps that echoed along the halls. Nobody spoke, and silence was awkward.

They saw a lot of open doors, but all of them were trashed rooms. There was nothing salvageable from the rooms they passed by; it was all too broken and beat up. The beds were torn, the drawers and cabinets were open and empty, the curtains and rugs were all displaced. Matt thought that maybe the rooms were a mess because of the big battle that just happened. Maybe they wouldn’t find anything here after all.

Matt stopped walking and was ready to turn his foot away, but as he was about to give up and go back, he spotted a large door at the end of the hallway. It was closed and full of décor. It was the fanciest door they’ve seen so far. It was an iron door with gold and silver linings on the side, and there was a picture of the royal piglin family carved in the center.

Do you guys see that door over there? Matt asked.

    Yeah, Toki replied.

Let’s go check it out. It looks pretty intact, Alex added.

The trio walked towards the door with caution. They didn’t know what was behind that door, and it looked pretty untouched from all the commotion. Matt tried to push the door open, but it wouldn’t budge. It was locked. He tried to force the door open with his shoulders multiple times but no luck. The door was too tough. Finally having enough, he struck his sword on the door handle, and the heavy door slowly creaked open.

The room was clean, and everything was in place. It looked like it belonged to someone in the royal family. The bed was large, the walls were over decorated, and there was another door on the side.

Whose room do you think this is? Alex asked.

    Matt shrugged. I don’t know…

Toki detached from the group and started snooping around. He opened all the cabinets and looks behind the curtains, pulling out whatever item he found and throwing it to the floor when it wasn’t of any use. When he reached the last unopened drawer, Toki pulled out a picture frame. He gets on a curious look on his face.

I think I know whose room this is… Toki grinned.

    Who? Matt asked.

Alex and Matt walk towards Toki who held the picture frame. When he finally showed them the picture, Matt was surprised. It was another picture of him, the Piglin King, and his mother. The family wore big smiles on their faces and wore expensive clothes. This must mean that this room was Matt’s old room before his disappearance.

I guess I still have a lot of work to do on my amnesia if I can’t even remember my own room… Matt says.

    Yep, Alex teases.

I’ve looked at everything there is in here. Aside from this, a couple of toys, and some books, there’s nothing much to see here, really. Toki looks at the door on the side and points to it. Unless we go in there.

Matt, do you know what’s behind that door? Alex asks.

How would I know?  I didn’t even know this was my room, Matt answers.

    Toki laughs. Touché.

Alex raises both of her hands in surrender. "All right, all right. Let’s just go inside
