THE RING

Kate knocked loudly on the door and stood back to wait.

When it became clear no-one was home, she reached out and turned the doorknob. Locked.

She glanced around and with no sign of any nosy neighbours, she darted down the side of the house to check the windows.

The best thing about the hot weather, in Kate’s opinion, was that people left windows open for a cool breeze and then often forgot to close them again when they went out. Kate soon found a back bedroom window that was partially opened. Easy peasy.

After climbing quickly through, she hurried to find the master bedroom, which was usually where she found the valuable jewellery.
