Her backdrop is one of literary and personal journeys: a teacher in secondary and college classrooms; a traveler from her home town in Virginia, to a cultural education in Hawaii; teaching in private and public schools in Maine, Hawaii, and Virginia, and an immersion of British schools on a sabbatical in England. You will want to travel with her as her book covers three arenas and ends with an appendix that is both instructional and personal as she lays out some protocols for students or teachers to use in the classroom.
