1. Food and emotions: how what you eat affects your mood.
Emotions are psychological and physiological reactions that we experience in different situations, stimuli or thoughts. Emotions help us adapt to our environment, express ourselves and relate to others. However, when emotions are negative, intense or uncontrolled, they can negatively affect our health, well-being and quality of life.
Food has a great influence on our emotions, as it is capable of modifying the chemistry, psychology and sociology of our brain. Food can alter the level of hormones, neurotransmitters and other substances that regulate our mood, such as serotonin, dopamine, cortisol or adrenaline. Food can also influence our eating habits, beliefs and attitudes, which in turn affect our self-esteem, motivation and satisfaction. Food can also determine our identity, belonging and happiness, depending on the culture, family and friends with whom we share the table.
In this chapter, we will look at how food influences our emotions from three perspectives: chemistry, psychology and sociology. We will also see how we can use food to improve our mood, balance our emotions and increase our happiness.

Serotonin: is a neurotransmitter associated with well-being, calmness and happiness. It is produced from tryptophan, an amino acid found in foods such as turkey, bananas, chocolate and nuts.
Dopamine: is a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, reward and motivation. It is produced from tyrosine, an amino acid found in foods such as cheese, eggs, meat and fish.
Cortisol: is a hormone associated with stress, anxiety and depression. It is produced in response to
