It was an absolutely gorgeous, beautiful sunny day. Fresh breezes whispered through her hair as Carla walked home from work and the bar. It had been an absolutely fantastic day at work and she was very happy. It radiated from her as she walked down the street. Carla worked for a company that found housing, clothing, furniture for the homeless, immigrants and anyone who needed help. She loved her job and today had been a particularly good day. Carla was very happy with the successful transition of this family. She had found them the perfect little house and yard. They had been able to furnish it completely from charitable donation places. All of the family had been able to find enough clothing to get them by and the kitchen was fully stocked. Yes it was a perfect day. Carla had left the happy family with tears in her eyes. She arrived back at the office and her office co-workers looked up to greet her and noticed her teary eyes.

What’s wrong Carla? Did something happen to your family you were with?

Oh no replied Carla, everything was perfect! They were so happy they got everything they needed and more. It was perfect! I was crying with happiness.

Fantastic her co-workers exclaimed.

Well I just have to tidy up here and then I’ll go home. I might pick up a take out meal on my way home.

Sounds great said Lisa and Gerry. See you tomorrow.

Carla picked up her purse and walked out into the bright sunshine. She fairly skipped down the street, she felt so good. Helping people didn’t always turn out so well. There were some tragedies as well. Carla walked up to her favorite restaurant and bar. ‘I think I’ll go in here, order some amazing fish and chips and have a drink while I’m waiting for it.’ Carla ordered her meal and drink and waited at the bar. A couple of acquaintances came along and they chatted for a few minutes. When her order was brought to her, Carla said goodbye and continued on her way home.

She passed a van in front of her house and a sliding door quickly opened. Two men grabbed Carla, put chloroform on a rag over her nose and mouth, and Carla went limp. She dropped her purse, which one of the men picked up and threw in the van and followed by dumping Carla on the floor of the van. The two men jumped into the van and drove off. They drove for an hour before getting to their destination. Carla was just regaining consciousness when they arrived and the men grabbed her under her arms and half carried, half dragged her into the large house. Carla was shaking her head as if to clear it. She looked at the men and immediately knew she was in trouble. They weren’t trying to hide their faces. That was a bad sign. They didn’t care if she could identify them because she’d never get the chance.

Carla stood up on her feet and looked at the men.

What do you want from me? Why have you done this?

We only want you sunshine. Just you.

What? she said. The two men moved toward her, one behind her and one in front of her.

What do you want? she yelled.

Just you replied the man in front of her. Fear struck inside her entire body. The front man yanked up her skirt and the man behind her grabbed her breasts and ripped her blouse down. He mauled her breasts and said

The two brothers enjoyed their dinner like nothing unusual had happened. Meanwhile Carla was waking up. Her entire body was filled with pain. They had dumped her on the floor in a large room. The room had an enormous bed in it. A dresser, a couple of soft covered stools and a locked trunk. There were no windows. Carla found a nice bathroom off to the one side. She tried to clean herself up as well as she could. She looked terrible. Carla slowly walked toward the bed and lay down. She wondered where she was, why they had taken her and what was going to happen next.

Carla fell asleep again and sometime later she heard the door opening. Before she could see who was coming through the door she heard someone say

hey Henry I want you to look at some of these reports before we’re done for the evening.

Okay replied Henry. Henry walked toward the study. He entered through an ornately carved wood door. Inside was a large ornately carved desk. The walls were of the same wood with carvings on the bottom half. All the decor was top of the line. Nothing was spared to make this room exude masculinity and wealth. Henry sat down next to Ben and they went over several business reports. Satisfied at the results they gathered up the papers and put them into a cabinet and locked it up.

Are you coming with me Ben?

Where, to the room?

Yeah I feel like dessert tonight. Ben chuckled,

"Not now Henry. I’ll lock up for the night.

You go ahead. Enjoy!"

Okay Ben see you later said Henry.

Henry walked to the room and unlocked the door again. He closed the door softly. Sunshine was curled into a little ball, sleeping ‘Ooh I love that’ said Henry to himself. They still hadn’t brought her any clothes yet so she was barely covered except for the small blanket. I’m coming Sunshine, I’m coming he whispered. Carla moved a little.

Oh yeah said Henry.

Henry had removed all his clothes now and gently got onto the bed. Carla stirred a little. Henry lay down beside her and grabbed her and held her in the position she was in. Carla didn’t think she would eat anything but it had been so long since she had eaten she ate a lot of the food and drank a cup of coffee. Carla put the tray aside and wrapped the small blanket around herself. She walked tenderly to the bathroom, used the toilet, washed and brushed her teeth. She walked back to the bed and as she got into the bed, the door opened.

No, no, no, no she screamed. It was Ben carrying a bunch of clothes for her.

Here, I’ve brought you a bunch of clothes, wear them how you choose. There aren’t any underclothes in here as you won’t need them unless you enjoy having them ripped off. We could get edibles if you want. Carla shook her head, but said nothing.

Ben actually hung up the clothes for her and put some in her dresser drawers.

I’ll see you later.

Carla jumped up after the door closed and searched for some warm pajamas or nightgown. No such luck. She found a loose shirt and put that on. Carla jumped into bed again and fell fast asleep. She slept a long time. Carla didn’t know how long but she felt it had been quite some time. Her tray was still there so she picked at some fruit and rolls. Then she lay down and snuggled under the covers. There was absolutely nothing here for her to do except think. So many questions.

The big one WHY, next was WHO and WHERE WAS SHE? Carla had no answers. She was totally stumped over the whole thing. Why would anyone want to inflict such horror on someone? She simply had no answers. She was determined to pay attention to anything they said that might give her a clue. She checked the room everywhere but there were no weak points. It seemed as though the men had left her alone for a long time. She was happy they had so her body could heal. Carla lay back in the bed and snuggled under the covers. At least she was warm. Carla fell asleep again. She woke up much later and hadn’t been disturbed again. She was surprised and wondered if they had gone on a business trip or the plane crashed. But then she wouldn’t get out of this room.

Carla was sure it had been nearly a week since they had left. Someone would put food in her room when she would be sleeping. No idea who that was. Carla tried pretending she was asleep but to no avail. She couldn’t fool them. Eventually they did return.

Ben came in first with a huge smile on his face.

Hello Sunshine good to see you again! Did you miss us? Carla just looked at him.

Carla covered her up in the bed and went to the far side of the bed to sleep. She didn’t want her to think she was one of the men so Carla left the bathroom light on. She slept lightly waiting for the woman to wake up, but she didn’t. They must have given her a lot of chloroform to knock her out this long. Carla finally fell asleep.

She awoke to screaming. She thought it was herself at first but realized it was the other woman. She had woken up. Carla sat up and said It’s okay, it’s okay. Calm down and tell me what happened.

I don’t know what happened. I was walking down the street and then I smelled something awful and must have passed out.

They used chloroform on you just as they did to me.

How long have they kept you here and why? the woman asked. First my name is Carla and you are?

Karin she said. I don’t know how long I’ve been here. Maybe two weeks? I had no way to tell time here. Carla replied.
