I love children of all ages, and love reading to children. It is such a joy watching them grow, not only physically, but socially and mentally as well. I have worked many years with children and have loved every minute. I am always amazed how fast they learn, and I love being a part of that learning process. I have worked in the classroom and in many summer camps for kids and teens, helping them build confidence and self-esteem to conquer their tasks. I have kids of my own that I have encouraged to succeed and be independent, and have many young and teen nieces, nephews, cousins that I have mentored through the years. I have been told I am the best teacher, encourager, and confidence builder many times over. I love seeing everyone succeed, especially in their courage, certainty, and self-esteem.I love sailing, photography, hiking, camping, scuba diving, motorcycle riding, and spending time with family. If it involves water, outdoors or family, then chances are I love it. Marlow Miller

Chapter 1:
Sevyn’s Turn
Mom, Mom!
Sevyn runs through the apartment, hurrying from room to room, her curly red hair bouncing on her head like wild fire-bunnies. I can’t find it!
Her mother, Toria, stands in the kitchen, trying not to burn breakfast. Find what? Oh my, we’re going to be so late!
It’s a big day for Sevyn. She is going to Planet Camp—the greatest part of being 12 years old! She will get on the lightbus into the wilds, where she will learn everything about the trip. At the end, she will find out what planet she has been chosen for.
My letter!
Sevyn shouts as she rummages around in the cluttered bathroom cabinet. Without it, they won’t let her go. But where is it? She has searched up and down and all around, and it is nowhere to be seen.
I think I have it!
Toria yells back at her daughter, laughing as she stands with the letter in her hand. She accidentally put it in the fridge while she was making sandwiches. Come on, get your things, we have to go!
But breakfast,
Sevyn complains, peeking around the corner from the bathroom. A stray fiery strand of hair flops down between her eyes, and she blows it out of her face with a hard huff. I’m starving!
We’ll eat in the hover.
Toria is already pressing her hand against the door to unlock it, holding the sandwiches in one hand and the letter in the other.
Sevyn grabs her suitcases and waddles through the hallway to join her mother. Her heart is beating very fast. This is going to be awesome. Her older brother, Atlas, went to Planet Camp only a few years ago. He was chosen to go to the planet called Acury, and he sends them holo-letters all the time.
Which one do you think I’ll get?
Sevyn asks as they zoom down to the ground floor in the elevator. Acury, Strouter, or that other one?
You mean Zoophus?
Toria is trying to remember which lightbus Sevyn is actually supposed to take. There are two that head out to Planet Camp—one on either side of the massive city—but Toria isn’t sure which one is which. The names for the streets are the same. It’s not very helpful at all.
Oh, look. You think they’re going, too?
Sevyn points to another family rushing through the traffic on the sidewalk. That other family are twins Finian and Garvin, along with their parents. They’re from the same school as Sevyn. They are late for Planet Camp because they thought the lightbus was only leaving the next day.
While she and Toria get into their hover car, Sevyn thinks about the twins. They’re not going to make it if they’re going to walk all the way, Mom!
We might not even make it ourselves, especially not if we stop.
Toria isn’t so sure this is a great idea. With more people in the car, she might get distracted. She barely knows where she is going already. She should have planned better.
But Sevyn is definitely going to insist. She always wants to help other people, and that is why Toria knows she is going to do great on her new planet.
Toria lets the hover car pause near the other family and opens the holo-window. "Hey, are you all heading to Planet
