    Chap.4 Healing our inner child

    Introduction

The inner child refers to the part of us that retains the emotions and perspective of childhood. It is that part of us that longs to be loved, cared for, and protected, and that may feel vulnerable, scared, or angry in situations that trigger memories of painful childhood experiences.

Often our attention is focused on our adult responsibilities and we forget to attend to our inner child. However, it is important to recognize the importance of working on it. In this book I will explain why:

It affects our interpersonal relationships: The inner child influences how we interact with others. If our inner child feels insecure, we may have a hard time establishing healthy, deep relationships. On the other hand, if the inner child feels loved and safe, we will be able to establish our most authentic and meaningful relationships.

It can affect our emotional health: If we ignore the emotional needs of our inner child, we can develop emotional and psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. By working on our inner child, we can release repressed emotions and heal emotional trauma.

It allows us to connect with our creativity: The inner child is also related to our creativity and our ability to play and explore. By connecting with our inner child, we can access this source of creativity and innovation, which can help us in our work and in our daily lives.

So how can we work on our inner child? Here are some steps you can take:

Learn to listen to your emotions: Pay attention to the emotions you experience in particular situations. Is there a situation that makes you feel especially vulnerable or scared? If so, you may be connected to your inner child.

be kind to yourself: Treat yourself with kindness and affection. Talk to yourself in a loving way and acknowledge your achievements and strengths.

do things that make you happy: Spend time doing things that you enjoy and that make you happy. This can include activities you enjoyed as a child or just taking time to play and explore.

seek support: Seek support from friends and family who love you and support you in your healing process. You may also consider working with a therapist or counselor who has experience working with the inner child.

Working on our inner child can seem like a challenging process, but it is an important part of our emotional and psychological well-being. By connecting with our inner child and attending to its emotional needs, we can improve our interpersonal relationships, our emotional health, and our capacity for creativity and innovation.

This book aims to explore the origin of our being so that we recognize and value it; and from there live with him in harmony. But since we can't go back to being children and we must accept our adulthood with integrity, what better than to provide our inner child with the tools that will make him feel happy?

    Chapter 1

    Positive mentality

    ––––––––

Positive thinking is an attitude that engages the mind with its thoughts, and the words and images that lead to development, expansion, and success. It is the same combination that we embrace as children to overcome failures and yearn to be adults; but, upon reaching that stage, many give up and become depressed.

Positive thinking is an attitude that expects great and favorable results. It is a positive mentality that aspires to a happy, joyful, healthy, and successful outcome in every situation and action. What the brain anticipates, it finds.

Not everyone practices or believes in positive thinking. Some people consider it nonsense, while others laugh at those who accept it. Of the latter, not many know how to use it effectively to achieve results. However, it seems that many people are interested in the subject, as evidenced by the many books, conferences, and courses on the subject. This concept is becoming more and more popular.

It is common to hear people tell someone who is feeling depressed or anxious: Think positive! And, most of the recipients do not take these words seriously because they do not know what they really mean or do not believe that they are useful and valid to overcome their bad moments. How many people do you know who have stopped to think about the power of positive thinking?

    ––––––––

    Power of the mind

Think about certain unpleasant events in your life and try to remember what thoughts you often had in the days leading up to that event. Try to find connections between your thoughts and events. How many times in your life has something happened and you said, I knew this was going to happen?

Our thoughts determine our behavior, our attitudes, and, in turn, our actions, our spirit, and our attitude toward those around us. As our thoughts are, so is our life. This means that it is very important to pay attention to our thoughts, especially those that we repeat often.

Ideas are like video files that we play on the computers in our brains. We judge by what our inner eyes see. What we imagine in our minds are our thoughts. The thoughts that we process over and over again shape our lives. Therefore, in order to change our being, we need to change our thought processes.

Our ideology must change. It's like removing an obsolete file and putting in a new one that we like more, more authentic. Sooner or later, the new mental profile changes our behavior, actions, and attitudes, drawing people, situations, and events into our lives that match our updated thoughts.

A single thought is not enough to cause a change, but if repeated often, it will eventually take hold. A strongly rooted idea resides in the subconscious, where it affects our life and even our environment. The best thing about this process is that we don't have to try too hard to make it happen. All we have to do is choose the idea we want to implement and start repeating it internally.

Let's say you are shy around others and you want to change that. You tried again and again, copying the attitudes of others, feeling fake and unoriginal, and ultimately garnering unpleasant outside comments, which confused you and eventually led to further isolation.

It is best to imagine that you feel comfortable and fluent in communicating with others, just as you did with your childhood friends. It is similar to dreaming, a simple and pleasant natural process. It is a mental activity, very simple, and requires no effort. It is a practical dream, a way to use the power of thought in a creative and conscious way.

It is very similar to daydreaming, but with a few changes. Picture yourself speaking fluently, easily, and confidently. Think about how the words come out of your mouth, how you like to say them, and how everyone pays close attention to every word you say.
