Chapter 1

~Back on Track~

Carla and Paul both smiled as they stood together at the edge of their enchanted, peaceful Cold Spring Harbor property. As always, they admired their incredible views, but, it meant so much more to them now more than ever before. The painstaking journey they had undertaken had brought them back to each other.

They were enveloped with a genuine sense of euphoria. They cherished this extraordinary moment, as they put aside all the mess and chaos they had recently endured. They held each other tightly and never wanted to let go of one another. It was especially bittersweet, filled with delight as they longed for each other and found solace in each other’s embrace. They intuitively knew they were always meant to be together, forever.

The late summer evening was so captivating, nearly a perfect one with just a hint of humidity. They were captivated not only by allure of their surroundings, but they were mesmerized by the harmonious sounds of its resounding nature. They delighted in the occasional breezes that caressed their faces and felt a surge of vitality. Paul and Carla embraced the hope of brighter days ahead.

In these cherished moments, everything seemed to have fallen into place. Paul and Carla shared a deep connection, grateful for how love had triumphed over hate and greed. They felt an intense, profound significance that tugged away at their heartstrings.

As Carla and Paul stood there fully immersed, they couldn’t help but feel a deep appreciation for it all. It was almost too perfect. As they savored in these revelations, they vowed they would never take it for granted, again, ever. Together, they felt uplifted and optimistic about the future.

They continued to marvel at one another against the beautiful backdrop of the magnificent evening sky. It illuminated their faces as they gazed upon each other affectionately. Two hearts beating as one, so deeply entwined that their souls ached for another.

The sky itself was a picturesque masterpiece adorned with soft blues, purples and pinks that would take their breath away. The obvious, distinct white clouds seemed as though they were delicately painted from a skilled artist’s hand. Each meticulous brushstroke across the heavens created more incredible memories for them to cherish.

And then there were the birds, those magnificent creatures would glide gracefully overhead in their gifted patterns of flight without a care in the world. It was such an inspirational sight to behold. They wanted to be like those birds, so carefree with no worries. To hear them as they sang in perfect harmony, it was an added, delightful gift, indeed.

All of a sudden, Carla quietly sighed, or at least she thought it was quiet. It provided a slight release of some of her pent-up tension, but only to a minimal extent for now. Her mind was burdened with many thoughts. As her heart brimmed with joy, she enjoyed these essential moments with Paul. She resolved to make a sincere effort to let go of what troubled her.

Are you okay? Paul inquired.

Oh, yes, I’m truly fine. I’m just so happy that we’re together again to enjoy this perfect evening, answered Carla. She even had butterflies like she used to when she first laid eyes on him all those years ago.

She made a deliberate attempt to relax as she slowly skimmed over all the striking scenery to divert her attention off the past events. The abundance of so many different, eye-catching colors were so breathtaking that they actually soothed her. Such vivid and blossoming foliage appeared to be everywhere. To even explain the settings, without missing a detail would be nearly impossible.

They both instinctively knew they had been blessed with their own private, picturesque sanctuary. Now they would need to concentrate more to nurture and cultivate their own relationship. And, in what better setting than these natural surroundings of this fabulous property to bring out the best in them.

Carla intently focused hard on all its beauty as a means to push aside what troubled her. Being an artist herself, she was greatly inspired by all the beautiful things she was ensconced in. It allowed her to momentarily set aside her anticipation of what was yet to come.

All of a sudden, Paul deeply inhaled the night air and sighed as if he had a lot on his mind, too. She giggled as she looked up at him, and he responded with a sweet smile. His smile warmed her heart which served as a great start to bring them that much closer on their newfound journey.

It was evident that they both craved one another and looked forward to much needed relaxation. Specifically, after all the ugliness they had recently endured. They couldn’t comprehend or rationalize what they had both been through. However, they were just very grateful they were together again and that’s all that really mattered, at this point. As far as they were concerned, the worst was over. Or, was it? At least, the ugly, disturbing parts were.

As they relished in these breathtaking moments, they were aware the sun would set shortly. Paul and Carla made the most of it and in their minds; they knew they never wanted to be separated again. The universe would be theirs to conquer… together.

I just want to remember this incredible night here with you always, Carla said, as she affectionately looked at him. She knew she was where she needed to be, in the arms of her beloved, and the love of her life. She felt an overwhelming, profound wave of peace come over her. Something she was not used to. And it felt so incredible. He was her home.

Paul turned to her and said, As I look at all this beauty, I’m so thankful that we found our way back to one another, again. I will always cherish you because nothing else matters to me as much as you do, my sweetness, as he leaned in and slowly kissed her tenderly. Paul felt all was right with the world now. And, Carla was the center of his entire world.

Both continued to be full of hope. The future once again looked even brighter than it had before. It was as if they were tested and they triumphed with flying colors. It exhilarated them further and they both felt extremely accomplished for it. There was nothing they couldn’t do together. It encouraged them to get back to reality sooner than later, which wasn’t too far away.

They both were aware they had a significant amount of work ahead of them to heal and move forward. Only they knew it may never be like it used to be before his brother came in like a force to be reckoned with. However, it was an essential task set with optimism to take on with wholehearted commitment.
