This book is an uplifting collection of poetry that reminds us of God's love and presence in our day-to-day life circumstances. These simple yet profound poems were lovingly written over a span of decades by Pat White, who taught a Sunday School Class for over twenty-five years. She used many of her poems to accompany her lessons and gently bring others closer in God's Word. These poetic expressions were carefully put to paper through hours of reading the Bible, prayer, and reflection of her own life experiences. Woven through this treasure of poetry is an underlying message: "Don't miss Jesus." Pat had a special ability to show concern for others and inspire them with encouragement at their greatest times of need. It is our prayer that this book will continue to comfort and encourage a countless number of others in their time of need.

Lord, I ask You to help me to grow in the grace of giving

For it is my desire to promote the upbuilding of Your kingdom

For as long as I am living.

I thank You because You have given so much to me

A cheerful and sincere giver is what I long to be.

Help me to recognize the needs of others.

And give me a willing spirit so that I will always do my part.

For I know that all gifts are acceptable to You

If they come from the heart.

A Christian Mother

Thank You, Lord, for the Christian mother

And for the values for which she stands.

She patiently loves, molds, and guides her children

To face life in a very troubled land.

Thank You, Lord, for the Christian grandmother

And for the advice and experiences she passes along.

She lives a godly life before her children

and her children's children

teaching them to wisely choose between right and wrong.

For we know when God is left out of our homes,

our children go astray.

Lord, give us more Christian mothers and grandmothers

in our world today.

A Christmas Prayer

December 1997

Our Father, as we celebrate

Our dear Savior's birth

Just help us to do a better job

Of serving Him while here on earth.

Help us to give Him our very best

As did the wise men of old

And may we realize that we have more to give

Than our silver and our gold.

Help us to praise and worship Him

Every day of the year

Not just when the Christmas season is here.

For what greater gift could we ever know

Than God's gift of Jesus

Born in a manger long, long ago.

A Faithful Missionary

Lord, help me to be a faithful missionary

To tell others of your goodness and grace

And show me where I am to go

Be it here at home or some faraway place

For we know that when God's people are in one accord

Great and mighty things are accomplished

In the name of our Lord

Help us as a church body to put aside prejudice or pride

Let us trust in Jesus to be our Guide

Make my life an example for others to see

The resurrected and living Savior abiding in me

Amen.

A Job to Do

Before I became a Christian,

My faith was like the mustard seed, weak and small.

Without a Savior, there would not have been any spiritual growth at all.

But when Jesus Christ came into my heart

My faith grew and grew.

I was lacking in wisdom and courage to work for the upbuilding of His kingdom,

But He provided that too.

God calls His people to action

His call is not meant for just a few

Even though we are all different.

We each have a job to do.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28:19, 20

A Journey

Jesus spoke to the disciples

Just as He speaks to all who trust Him today

"Let not your hearts be troubled

My child, I've prepared a place for you in Heaven

Be assured—I'll be back to take you away."

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in Heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
