INTRODUCTION
TUBAL LIGATION AND CHILDBIRTH
Tubal ligation is a surgical procedure that closes a woman's fallopian tubes. (This is sometimes referred to as tying the tubes.
) The fallopian tubes are the tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus. A lady who has had this operation can no longer become pregnant. This indicates that she is sterile.
Description
Tubal ligation surgery is performed in a hospital or outpatient facility.
• You may be put under general anesthesia. You will be unconscious and unable to feel pain.
• Alternatively, you will be awake but sedated. You may also be given sleeping medication.
The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
• Your surgeon will make one or two small surgical incisions in your abdomen. They are most commonly found around the belly button. To expand your stomach, gas may be pushed into it. This allows your surgeon to see your uterus and fallopian tubes more clearly.
• A laparoscope (a small tube with a tiny camera on the end) is put into your tummy. Instruments will be introduced through the laparoscope or a separate tiny cut to block off your tubes. The tubes are either cauterized (burned shut), clamped off with a little clip or ring (band), or surgically removed.
Tubal ligation can also be performed immediately after childbirth through a tiny cut in the navel. It is also possible to perform it during a C-section.

Why Is the Procedure Performed?
Adult women who are certain they do not wish to become pregnant in the future may benefit from tubal ligation. The procedure's advantages include a guaranteed means of preventing pregnancy and a lesser risk of ovarian cancer.
Women in their 40s who have a family history of ovarian cancer may wish to have the whole tube removed to reduce their risk of developing ovarian cancer later in life.
However, some women who choose tubal ligation later come to regret their decision. The younger the lady, the more likely it is that she
