Performance - R.A Bradley
Introduction
The Dreamer has now moved in to a future world and it must be stressed on a completely different planet somewhere far far away and repeat nothing like this one we currently call Earth.
That seems impossible to imagine, where even his name along with the rest of the population has been changed: Kvasir the main character of the book is about to awaken from the Genocide that surrounds him. It has become ingrained in to society like the dirt on a welcome mat. Exiled in an apple orchard which now effectively serves as the city’s mental asylum Kvasir has a Extrasensory vision.
The one and only Company left in the world has asset stripped every country and bought every politician, they use a method of mind control to do so called Performance.
It has become society’s reality, a cross between TV and Crack Cocaine. Now the only competition left is the population who stand in the way of complete world dominance.
1 Performance
The higher the mountaineer goes the more he sees until there is just blue sky, ultimately nothing is external as the light of the Sun forces one to close ones eyes and go within.
Kvasir sat silently looking at the words he had written feeling, they had come through him rather than from him. There were periods of memory drop out where it was impossible to find himself, as if he had stepped out of his body, and when he returned the writing would come back.
Outside the City Arena
The Performance was the name given to ecstasy memory transmitted in to the left Amyglada of the brain which is the area responsible for memory and pleasure. There was no program of entertainment it was just pure electronic wave stimulation via a transponder placed under the scalp behind the left ear. It was something discovered decades ago when a scientist wired up a rats brain to an electrical probe and put a press bar in its cage. Every time the rat pressed the bar the probe electrically stimulated the Amyglada producing an orgasm.
The rat wanted nothing else, it loved it to death.
This was at the centre of the human condition it was thrills, kicks and pleasure without the need to create an environment as it once was. It did not have to take place outside in the real world so to speak. People were not missing people or opportunities any more they were just missing the effect of the Performance.
If you do not have Performance what good are you.
Another great slogan.
you can not survive with out Performance.
Another great slogan!
The slogans were displayed everywhere and written along side, it said, Another great slogan
.
This was to enforce the idea that it was a good thing. No one wanted to live without Performance the transmission went off every hour with the effect lasting a few minutes. The wave also carried any implanted memory the GEN company wanted to transmit. If they wanted you to think a man had just landed on the Moon ,then you believed it.
Performance was given through a system of time credits for work.
Its just the way we look at things that makes them seem bad, every thing looks good with Performance.
Another great Slogan!
GEN had taken the place of government
They were also the only business operation in the world, they made food from petroleum products with polymers very similar to plastic. Injecting the food with patented vitamins and a kind of sugar that made every thing addictive. A mild sedative and painkiller was also included, to stop
