    Dedication

To my husband, children, grandchildren (Audrey, Gillian, Lawson, Lannon), friend Deborah, and all in the world who need essential beginning-to-advanced skills to learn to read, spell, write, and do math well—to excel in school and life. Always sound out the letters/words through the seven rules of reasoning in reading to be great advanced readers. If you know what is in this one book, you know basics.

So many in the world need to learn the basics well. This is a needed book. Why?

    1. If you know what is in this one book, you will know important basics.

    2. To bring the basics together in one book.

    3. To help people know and understand the beginning to advanced basics.

    4. To take out the confusion in education today and make basics clear and simple.

    5. To understand the basics in the fastest, easiest, clearest, most effective way.

    6. To most rapidly reach advanced phonic reading.

One can’t spell, write, or even do math word problems without knowing how to read. Anyone who can have a short conversation is ready to learn to read. Use what you learn here to read any books/stories of choice to learn to read to then go beyond the basics.

Proven to work—if you use the book. Learn to read to read to learn and reason how words work. If you know what is in this one book, you will be able to build upon basics to learn beyond and to understand how math operations and calculations work, not to be totally dependent on computers.

Home can be the best school and family the best teacher. Pass all these treasured secrets of good, direct, and concise basics education down to each generation, a few minutes a day or at your own customized pace and schedule, the guide to glide through the basics and beyond. Just follow each page and master the important concepts of each step before going to the next. With this book, you will know what basics are needed. It gives families many fun things to talk about.

A love of reading enriches lives by increasing knowledge, understanding, and reasoning. It can transport you through history of time, showing how others think, and what works and doesn’t work. Reading educates.

    Preface

This is my story with lost secrets found. I am a teacher, parent, grandparent, reading specialist, and tutor of twenty-plus years, now retired. My degree is a BA in ED and taught grades 2–6. After raising three daughters (who were reading before they started school—and excelled), I thought I would return to teaching, but many things did not seem right. So I started a Beginning-Advanced Basics Academy and to pass the master key of basics on to every generation.

Grade-less learning by concept is faster, easier, better than leaning basics, scattered by learn-by-grade or online. Concepts in grade-less basics helps explain and improve learn-by-grade methods. The newfound easy explanations make learning phonetic reading faster and easier. Remember the easy long vowel sounds, a e i o u, as in the names of the letters themselves. Be sure short vowel sounds are learned with confidence—a e i o u—as in pat, pet, pit, pot, put.

When you read the seven rules, you will understand total phonetic reading to figure out (analyze) almost any word. Most children learn letter sounds between ages 2 and 5. Every child is different. Once step 1 letters/sounds are mastered, steps 2 to 7 are fast/easy and excel in advanced phonic reading by age 7. After each step is understood, go to the next step. Learn at your own pace, going faster or slower than ages suggested. Start at age 2, 3, 4, and excel by 7. Older remedial students learn much more quickly than younger children. Goal for remedial students, ages 7+, is to reach advanced reading in seven one-hour lessons. Each learns at their own speed.

Make education simple and clear, not confusing: When I started teaching, phonics was disappearing. Whole Language emerged. (Sounds good. Doesn’t work.) With whole language, students learn (memorize) about 3,000 of the 400,000-plus words in the English language. Parents complained. Schools said they brought back phonics (Trick: Not entire method, only beginning phonics was taught.) Things were missing, lacking intermediate and advanced phonics, causing many weak readers. Today, math/reading continue to drop. Concepts are scattered within learn-by-grade dumb-down methods, computer and online learning. Home-schools grow, because of what is taught (and not taught) in the schools. Children need help at home or reason out / figure out / put together things on their own (takes a long time). Good students eventually do. Too many do not.

I started my ace basics academy/school, developing lessons, which slowly turned into the 1-Book ACE Basics School with Basics that need to be learned and developed, much like the grade-less one-room schoolhouses of yesteryear, and the basics together book is a one-book guide for parents and children/adults of all ages to understand. Basics together is a best friend in learning.

    Important Time-Saving Information

Master each concept, one page at a time, before going to the next step.

It is faster and easier to learn by concepts than by age or grade methods.

No matter the age/ability, everyone needs to eventually learn the same concepts

hopefully in the faster, easier, better way.

    Welcome to the BASICS NATION!
