About this ebook

Reading a bad boy romance is the worst mistake Zhuri has ever made. After completing the vampire story, she thought she would land in her home. But here she is, stuck in yet another romance novel.

Being in a billionaire book can't possibly be as bad as being in a vampire book. Humans cannot be more dangerous than supernatural creatures. Or so Zhuri thought before meeting Dev Rogers, a narcissistic, possessive rich man who believes the world revolves around him.

To escape this story, she'll have to stop Dev from falling in love with her—but the more she tries to avoid him, the harder he falls for her.

    About The Author

    Chapter 1

S weety, what's wrong ? the redhead asks Zhuri.

Heart racing, Zhuri stumbles on the bed thinking what she has done wrong. According to the book, she must have been out of the story as she has successfully changed Cara's fate.

Tara, are you alright? The redhead's eyes widens as she stares at Zhuri. She is calling her Tara, but Zhuri has never read any story about Tara.

Glancing around the room, she notices flower curtains on the window. The room is dull white, nothing fancy. This seems like an apartment.

Tara? The redhead gets close to her and stands towering over her. Are you feeling sick too?

No, Zhuri says, and hops off the bed. There's one more bed on the other side of the room. It must belong to the redhead. Since Zhuri is Tara, she can't ask her what her name is.

Thank God. The redhead sighs in relief and moves back to her side. She starts drying her hair. You had me worried for a second. If we both get sick, who'll interview Mr. Rogers.

Moments ago the redhead has just said Zhuri has an interview with a billionaire. This seems like a typical regular girl meeting a billionaire and falling in love. Maybe Mr. Rogers is the man she's supposed to meet. Being the main character of this story he might help her to get out of this story, but she knows nothing about interviewing someone. What am I supposed to ask him?

The redhead grunts and stomps near her bed. She picks up a notebook from the side table next to Zhuri's bed. Did you read anything? I have prepared all the questions. All you have to do is ask him.

Passing the book to Zhuri, she opens the drawer of the table. She takes out a rectangular card that looks like an identity card and hangs it around her neck. And don't forget to tell Mr. Rogers that Asha can't be there because she is suffering from a flu.

Who's Asha? Zhuri almost says it out loud but Tara is supposed to know this girl. It can be this girl in front of her. As the redhead trudges back to her bed, Zhuri calls, Asha.

    The redhead turns around. Yes?

That's her name. Just to confirm, Zhuri taps the book with her fingers and asks, Does Mr. Rogers knows you are not coming?

No, that's why I'm asking you to tell him.

This is the confirmation Zhuri needed. Before going anywhere, she needs more information about the plot line. She throws the notebook on the bed and crosses her arms. Why didn't you call him and inform him about your absence? It will be less awkward if he knows beforehand that his interviewer has changed.

Asha's jaw drops. Do you think I have his number? Don't be ridiculous. I got this opportunity as a colleague project and I don't want to miss out on it.

So, they are college students. Since they are interviewing people they must be in journalism. It means Tara must have a project of her own or they are both in this together. She scratches her head. So, does it mean I can use this interview as well?

Asha squints at her. How will it help you? Do people in English literature study billionaires interviews?

Oh. Zhuri cocks her head. She has got it wrong. Tara is just helping out a friend. At least she knows it now, and she'll have to figure out the rest in the outside world as she has done in Cara's story. But Zhuri doesn't know where she'll meet this man. How will I get there?

I've arranged for your travel. I told you. Asha applies lip balm. Are you nervous? You seem to have forgotten everything.

Of course she's nervous. She has just escaped the weird world of vampires and werewolves after killing the most powerful vampire in the town just to realise she still hasn't reached her home. No, she says, tapping her temples. It's just a minor headache.

Do you need coffee? Asha asks.

Zhuri has never been a big on consumption of caffeine, but it can be that Tara might like coffee. She bobs her head. Yes, I will buy a cup on my way.

Asha's phone rings. She picks up and says, Yes, will be there in five.

The way her conversation has gone, Zhuri knows who it can be.

Your cab is here, Asha says, and dashes towards Zhuri. She fixes her washed out brown cardigan. Picking up the book, Asha hands it to her. Don't think too much about it, just read the questions, and you'll be fine.

She walks Zhuri towards the exit. There's a black Sedan in front of the gate. Tell the driver your name and he'll drop you to the office.

Zhuri can't go without knowing where she's supposed to be. Which office? she asks.

To Mr. Rogers! Asha exclaims. Seriously, Tara, are you alright?

That rise in her voice is surprising. It's Zhuri who has travelled between books and stuck with these weirdos. If anything, she reserves the right to be mad at them. However, it's not Asha's fault and this interview certainly seems important to her. Zhuri chuckles awkwardly. Just a minor headache.

Taking deep breaths, Asha does a placating gesture. I'm sorry, but you are my last hope. You cannot mess this up.

Zhuri doesn't even know what she is going to do. Chances are she might ruin this redhead's project.

Shaking her violently, Asha says a little too loud, Tell me you got this.

Okay, jeez. Zhuri separates herself from her and steps back. I got this. Don't worry about it.

She walks out of the door into the bright corridor. Although she has no interest in interviewing this man, she has to find out more about him. In her previous journey to the book, it took her too long to connect with the lead characters who in turn helped her escape that hell hole.

Zhuri reaches the end of the hallway and presses the lift button. She's on the fifth floor. As the lift door opens, she steps inside. Pressing the ground floor button, she rests her head on the steel wall.

Maybe she's being too curious. Unlike the last story, she doesn't know the plot of this book. If Mr. Rogers is not the lead character, then she'll have to start from scratch. The bell rings and the lift door drifts sideways.

She walks out and scans the floor. There's just a big hall on the right side and no other room. She moves towards the white exit door opposite to it. As she opens the door, a young man in a black suit looks at her.

Before Zhuri can utter a word, he opens the door of the Sedan behind him. Perhaps he has been expecting her. In most stories, insignificant characters don't have dialogues anyway. She gets inside and the man closes the door. He gets in the front seat and starts driving.

The buildings pass by as they drive ahead. Despite the urge, Zhuri stops herself from asking more about Mr. Rogers. After all, she's supposed to know about that man. If Mr. Rogers is young, which Zhuri is ninety percent sure he is, then this is a billionaire romance story.

Zhuri throws her head back in the seat. In the vampire novel the characters were supernatural. It was pretty obvious where I might find help. But in a world where everyone is human, how am I going to find help?

She doesn't know where to start. This stupid moon god has special hatred for her. What has she done to deserve this? Blood rises up her cheeks as she stares out of the window. It's still noon, but the sun is hiding the curtains of clouds. Zhuri can't even cuss at the empty sky. Not that she can do it at night. Despite doing nothing the moon god has sent her here, in case she managed to make the god mad, she doesn't know what can happen. And she has no desire to find out.

Flipping through the pages of the notebook in her hands, she looks at the questions. Hopefully, she's right about this man and he's young. Before she can read, the car stops.

The young man darts out of the car and opens the door for her. We are here, he says in a rush as though he can't wait to get rid of her.

Zhuri steps on the marble tiles, staring at the black glass building. It's probably thirty storey tall. There are several buildings next to it, but about ten floors shorter. The car drives by behind her. She lifts her hand to stop it, but it has gone far. When she has a chance to talk to the driver, she has been shy. Now, she doesn't know where she has to go.

Judging by the fact that this is a story, the main character will probably be on the top floor of the tallest building. Zhuri trudges up the four stairs and enters through the glass door. Her kettle heels petter on the marble floor as she darts towards the receptionist to the right.

She looks less like a receptionist and more like a supermodel, with her perfect tall, slender body and sleek black hair tied in a bun. How can I help you? the woman asks.

I'm here for the interview with Mr. Rogers, Zhuri says, and shows her the badge.

The woman smiles and says, Follow me.

Zhuri does as asked. She gets with her inside the lift and as expected, the woman presses the thirty button.

Though this doesn't mean she's absolutely right about everything, a smile creeps on Zhuri's lips. She presses the book against her chest firmly.

For some reason, her heart beat faster with every passing floor. She has been through a vampire story. If she can handle those creatures, she can easily handle the regular human story.

The door opens and the woman leads the way. They stop in front of a wooden entrance. She gestures at it and looks at Zhuri.

It's weird that she has not informed her boss about Zhuri's arrival. They probably have been expecting her at this hour.

Zhuri opens the door and steps inside. Her leg tugs against something. The book slips from her hand as she falls to her knees.

Pulling herself together, she checks her feet. There's no wire or rope that might have caused her to fall. It's odd. She's not clumsy.

Are you alright? a man asks.

Zhuri looks up at a young man in a grey suit. His jaw is sharper than a knife. Judging by his physique, it's obvious he spends time lifting weights. He moves his palm towards Zhuri.

She takes his hand and gets to her feet.

I'm Dev Rogers, he says, and leaves her palm.

Zhuri's eyes brighten up. Yes, this is a billionaire romance!

    Chapter 2

Zhuri can't believe how good she's at picking up cringey plots. A young, handsome billionaire, who happens to be single and will fall in love with her. Her heart skips a beat. She doesn't want him to love her, it will only create problems, like in the last story.

You are? Dev asks, raising his brows.

I'm Tara, she says, realising she doesn't know Tara's last name. Before he asks further questions about her name, she adds, I'm filling in for Asha.

She stops again, not knowing what Asha's last name is.

Dev stares at her for a while as though expecting more.

Ms. Asha is sick so she can't be here, Zhuri says, composing herself.

Without further enquiry, Dev trudges towards the table and chair in the corner of the room. He takes a seat on the boss chair and gestures to Zhuri to sit on the opposite side. I've a meeting in the next fifteen minutes. Be quick.

Yes, Mr. Rogers, she says, and settles in front of him.

Fifteen minutes is certainly not enough to tell him about her weird story of arrival. She'll have to find a way to engage him for a longer period. Usually the male lead will be interested in her by himself and ask her out by the end of this interview.

Shall we? Dev  asks, raising her brows.

In thinking about what to do next, Zhuri has totally forgotten how long she has been staring into space. She opens the notebook in her lap and reads. Yes, Mr. Rogers. First question. You had achieved so much at such a young age. What is the inspiration—

For my work, Dev cuts her off.

    Zhuri stares at him.

He chuckles. I've answered that question a million times. You can look it up on the internet. Next question, he says, tapping his fingers on the
