About this ebook

There is a prison that houses most of the people in this world, including those who call themselves Christians. Its invisible walls leave individuals unaware of their own captivity and separation from God. They feel the effects of this prison and are deceived into thinking they can fix it on their own. Wasting time, energy, and money, they struggle to free themselves from the feelings of defeat, desolation, and despair. But the Good News proclaims there is freedom available to all. This book is a guide to deconstructing the four walls of anger, fear, shame, and guilt, leading the reader to freedom and fellowship with God. There is a pardon with your name on it, and if you choose to accept it, you can walk out of this prison and be relinquished of your suffering. The choice is up to you.

The first prison I ever ministered in was the infamous San Quentin Prison, the oldest prison in California. I was 18 years old and traveling with a Christian men's singing group from my Bible College.

I remember thinking how out of place I was, as an 18-year-old Bible College student, talking to a convicted killer. The funny thing is we were both in prison, but of a different kind. One had physical bars and the other had internal prison bars. Both were in prison, only one didn't know it. I was the one who didn't know it. That was in 1961.

The passion to reach men for Jesus has taken me to prisons through the United States and in foreign nations, including the famous, or infamous, Landsberg, Germany prison where Adolph Hitler was incarcerated in 1924.

I have ministered to literally thousands of inmates in dozens of prisons in as many different states. In 1986 I began a prison ministry in Pennsylvania, called Second Chance Prison Ministries, that still ministers to inmates to this day. For years, because of the proximity to the church where I was a pastor, I went weekly to the State Correctional Institution in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. I met, prayed with, and discipled hundreds of inmates in the Camp Hill facility.

When my wife and I moved to Ohio in 1995, I would drive once a month to the Rockview Correctional Institution in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania to visit inmates I had been discipling since Camp Hill days. I would drag anyone willing to go with me to make this grueling six-hour, round-trip drive to Bellefonte. I'll treat you to lunch at one of the vending machines in the prison visiting room. How does that sound? I'm surprised anyone went with me.

In 2009 Devi and I moved to Dallas, Texas to be near my daughter and her family. Despite the distance, I would still fly to the Rockview facility annually, during the month of December, to check up on the inmates I was discipling in that facility, and to preach a Christmas message to them.

It was at my Christmas visit in 2010 that I met a young man by the name of Frank Eyerman. There was something special about Frank that caught my attention. I believe it was more than his passion for Jesus or his love for the Word of God. I believe it was a Holy Spirit set up. Like Philip in Acts 8, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me that I was to commit myself to Frank in a mentor/disciple relationship. I was to attach myself to his chariot.

More than a decade has passed since that initial introduction. Hardly a week went by that we didn't correspond by letters or phone calls. While our visits were limited to my annual Christmas trip they were rich with fellowship and increased Holy Spirit bonding.

When Frank walked out of the prison walls, several years ago, he brought with him more than just his Bible and a few personal belongings. He brought a wealth of treasures found in the Word of God that set him free from the prison that had kept him in bondage most of his life. He went in bound and came out free. And the lessons he learned from his years spent with the Word of God, Jesus, and prayer, has resulted in this profound, transformational book.

The principles that Frank gleaned while incarcerated not only brought liberty to him, but I am also confident it will do the same for those reading his book. I knew Frank was gifted, spiritually discerning and a rich teacher of the Word, but until I read, Satan's Prison, I had no idea of the depth of spiritual insight the Holy Spirit had deposited in him.

Please consider giving this book to as many men as possible, including those on the outside who are still bound in sin's shackles as well as those incarcerated in State and County prisons. What the Word has done for Frank it will do for you, your loved ones and your acquaintances. This book is more than testimonial, it is a Get out of jail free manual for people who want not only deliverance from their own bondage but a roadmap to become a mature man of God. If God can do it for Frank, he can do it for you.

    Introduction

There are so many prisons in the world that house hundreds of thousands of criminals. These prisons are designed to lock a person behind walls to keep them from the outside world. Most of the time, men and women commit crimes that place them in these circumstances. In some cases, innocent people are falsely accused of crimes they did not commit. One thing is certain about all of them though; someone, other than themselves, will decide when they will be set free.

Physical freedom is very important, but I want to address another prison where Satan himself is the warden. This prison has walls like no other prison; they are not seen with the naked eye. These prison walls have been building a stronghold around people in all nations, all walks of life, throughout all of history, and will continue until the end of time. You cannot see the walls of this prison, but you can see the effects of it everywhere. Many people are physically free, but in reality, they are prisoners behind walls that are so hard to penetrate that they continue to live life in bondage, trying their best to live for Christ with no lasting success. Satan's prison has Christians confined behind four walls, and he uses all his resources to keep them there. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

When a person gets saved, that person is set free from the penalty of sin. They are given the keys to be set free from the power of sin. The truth is that many Christians remain in Satan's prison where they are not free to live the abundant life that Jesus promises in his Word. They have a form of godliness but deny its power. These four prison walls are anger, fear, guilt, and shame. True freedom is discovered when these walls are torn down in a believer's life. Unlike a physical prison where someone else decides your fate, this is a prison where only you can decide when you are free. Do you want to be free? There is a cost to
