Accept the Call to Greatness - Jeremy Cleavland
I WANT MY LIFE BACK
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
—Psalms 51:5
I WANT MY LIFE BACK, THE LIFE I never had when I was first born into a world of sin and suffering that left me wondering why I am here and what my purpose and plan here on this earth is.
I want my life back, the life that kept me pondering on how I started breathing my first breath, experiencing that first touch, taste, feeling, and hearing and making that first sound whether it was Mommy
or Daddy,
and that first step to sitting up and learning how to crawl and walk.
I want my life back, the life as I began to grow into my teenage years. I’m still stuck wondering what I am trying to figure out here, who my real friends are, and what sports I like; battling with my manhood and trying to find love in all the wrong places; smoking; drinking; clubbing; having sex outside of marriage; and last but not the least, having kids at the age of fifteen and trying to find employment to provide for them.
Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, ‘Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations’
(Jer. 1:4–5).
I want my life back. At the age of eighteen, I met my Maker; the love of my life; my Redeemer; the God of love, peace, joy: Jehovah-Jireh. He’s my provider, the God that saved my soul from a burning hell and gave me a second chance to live a better life. From eighteen till now, which is the age of twenty-nine, I had to go through the breaking of the outer man to release the spirit and the release of Family with Purpose Ministries and my book, Accept the Call to Greatness.
I want my life back. And now that I have my life back, I will cherish it, appreciate it, and accomplish all that God has for me until the day He comes back and get me. Thank You for giving my life back. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
SPIRIT VERSUS FLESH
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
—Romans 7:15–17
IT SHOWS YOU HOW REAL THE BATTLE is between spirit and flesh when God uses another man or woman to test you in the weakest and most vulnerable moments in your life, such as marriage, single life, and boyfriend and girlfriend relationships, because you have to respect each other’s feelings and at the same time honor the covenant of God, which is to love one another as Christ loves the church. Those who live by the corrupt nature have the corrupt nature’s attitude but those who live by the spiritual nature has the spiritual nature attitude. The corrupt nature’s attitude leads to death, but the spiritual nature attitude leads to life and peace
(Rom. 8:5–6), so in other words, what that scripture is talking about is that we know we were born in the flesh, which is weak and causes us to sin. When we step over on to God’s side, we no longer have to fight the battle of the flesh because now, the spirit intercedes (Rom. 8:26–27) for us to make the right choices and decision for this walk called Christ and be delivered from every habit and sinful nature. Period. But if you use your spiritual nature to put to death the evil activities of the body, you will live (Rom. 8:13). Now I will leave you with much wisdom. Just know that Christ has the highest CEO position in heaven and anything we are dealing with or needing help with, the Spirit is waiting on us as children of the Most High to open our mouths and depend on Him to give us the spirit of victory over the fleshly body, meaning ourselves.
Prayer
Lord, touch me as I submit this fleshly body to Your will that Your spirit may fully take over and I will flow in the spirit of obedience and Your healing power. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
MIDNIGHT DELIVERANCE
ON OUR KNEES
IN THE WORD OF GOD, MIDNIGHT COULD represent the concept of intense darkness or even gloom.
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: And immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, and brought them out, and said, Sir, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved in thou house.
(Acts 16:25–31)
This scripture talks about two men named Paul and Silas who were brought to court, based on false accusations. God uses this scenario to teach us, His children, what we should
